Super hot here in the Hammer…
Like every other part of North America, it’s been very hot here in the Hammer as well. So hot that I have been hesitant to take the kids outside unless it was absolutely necessary. So besides taking Jon to and from his summer courses at IBI, we’ve stayed indoors and kept they AC cranked up to eleven. Thankfully neither myself nor my ex pay for hydro so we keep those machines cranked all day long to the point where my basement pad is as cold as a meat locker.
Speaking of things getting hot, things between myself and the new girlfriend have been rather steamy as well. To say we are clicking as a couple would be an enormous understatement. Becca and I love doing anything together, even doing the dishes is more fun when she’s around to help out. We love being in each other’s company and I have a really, really good feeling about this lady… she truly is something special.
I recently learned that my Mom & Dad will be driving up from Tennessee in two weeks, and I asked them if I could take them out for dinner on either Saturday or Sunday night of their visit. They asked why, and I let them know that I wanted to use this dinner to introduce them to Becca. My Dad was surprised when he heard the request but went on to tell me that I’ve been a lot more chipper and pleasent to talk to since I started seeing her and he’s happy that we’re doing so well. I haven’t gotten a response to my request but I’m hoping they’ll be on board.
I’ve already started to talk to Ethan about the fact that I am seriously seeing someone new. The fact that my ex has been seeing someone herself made it easier for me to pitch my new lady to the little guy. He understands who the new guy in my ex’s life is so I used that example to bring up the idea that I am going to have someone new in my life. A few months ago, Becca made a batch of a few dozen jars of homemade strawberry jam… and she gave me a jar to give to Ethan. I’ve been using it for toast and PB & J sandwiches. Ethan loves the jam, which means Becca has won some early brownie points.
So basically what I’m saying is the weather isn’t the only thing heating up over here… and I haven’t been this happy in a long time. Becca brings out feelings I haven’t had in a while and it feels good to be in the thick of something special again. I don’t want to jinx myself, but I’ve got a really good feeling about this… enough to the point where I want Mom & Dad to take a moment to meet her.
I’ll be back with more info about this as it goes on, but the best part is I’m doing well here in the Hammer and feeling better than I have in a long time. I hope everyone else enjoys their weekend and I’ll be around! Until then, take care…
Peter
