A mid-week update
Things are going well here in the Hammer, but I haven’t posted in a while so I thought I would take the time to do so since it’s slow here in the center and I am already finished everything that is expected of me.
1) The new job is going really well. I like the people I work for and when that happens the job is a little more fun and not as mentally straining as other jobs are.
2) Working the graveyard shift is no biggie. I did it at previous call centers and I am glad to help out whenever I can and not be that person that refuses to do shifts without good reason. I’m a bit of a night owl anyway so when there are no calls I can get a lot done.
3) The screen test on Sunday went pretty well despite the low turnout. I am getting the inkling that the lead part in the movie is mine. I met the leading lady and we seemed to hit it off when we were doing our scene together. I don’t think we could have nailed that scene any better than we did that day. She’s a nice lady and a talented actress, so I look forward to working with her. The director has a good head on his shoulders and is a reasonable guy. I’ve been eager to work with him for a while and am pleased to finally have the chance.
4) Due to the medical ailments that I have been discussing in previous private entries, I am not going to be like Jackie Chan and skip out on many of the stunts during this film’s production. Thankfully I have a brother who while two years older than me is often mistaken for my twin. After a little arm twisting, Chris agreed to be my stunt double… which is cool cause I think it will be fun to have him involved int he production.
5) After years of waiting, waiting… and some more waiting, I’ve finally gotten notice that my class action against Maple Leaf has finally ended and cheques are in the mail. I settled my case a long time ago but none of the settlements could be cut or shipped out until every arbitration was settled first. It’s coming at a time when it’s badly needed… and if it arrives soon enough, I plan to use some of it to fund my trip to the family reunion that’s being planned by my Dad’s side of the family. It’s going to be in New Orleans on the May holiday weekend in the US.
6) I’m also thinking of taking another trip sometime over the summer. Just me to explore a new place and just venture out on my own. I’ll get back to you guys on that. I’m seriously considering traveling to a specific city to see a baseball game in a park I always wanted to check out, which would also make it the first time I attend a National League game…
7) Ethan needs new glasses. He broke the only pair he had two weeks ago and school has been rather difficult without them since. So regardless of when the big cheque arrives, I will be getting in my new pay from the new job to replace them ASAP. If the big cheque arrives afterwards, I plan to buy a few more spare pairs to prevent this from happening again.
8) I started taking the second level to the ‘coping with separating and divorce’ seminars. Most of the group that I took level one with in September are back and it’s nice to have the same people work through everything together again. Someone asked me why I bother to do that at all, stating that I should not want to air out my issues with strangers. I response was this: if I don’t do it there, I’m gonna want to express those feelings somewhere. I don’t want to talk to my friends or brothers about this cause it would drive them up the wall. Having this place makes it easier for me to have a spot where I can let it out. I don’t want to bug my friends with my baggage, so that where the meeting help out a great deal.
9) We are less than two weeks away from a new baseball season. I can’t wait.
10) Ditto for the second season of Game Of Thrones… April 1st cannot come soon enough!
So that the jist of it from the Hammer. I hope that everyone out there is doing all right, and if I get the chance I’ll post again later today or just leave some notes of support with my favs. Until then, everyone have a great day and take care!
Peter

I had some concerns with airing my dirty laundry when I did group therapy for my anxiety, but it turned out that it really helped to know that other people felt the same things I did and were going through the same things.
