Former President calls Wilson’s outburst ‘racist’

Turns out I’m not the only one who found Wilson’s disrespect of Obama’s joint address something fueled by his own inability to accept a African-American President. Former President Jimmy Carter went on NBC and blasted not only Wilson but those protesting against Obama for letting their hate dictate their views on policy. I think he’s right. Even when George W. Bush was making what many thought were inaccurate comments, no one in the congress called him out on it during a live address to congress. Despite all the hate a lot of Democrats had for Bush, they respected him enough to let him speak. And those who are saying it’s people responding to a big issue, that too is a load of bullocks. President Clinton attempted to reform healthcare, and I don’t remember any Republicans screaming at him during his addresses to Congress. Obama can’t get that same respect from Republicans, and according to many people, not just myself, the reason is that these Republicans are unable to accept that someone from a minority is their President. Well, they might have to accept it soon, because Obama’s going to be President for quite a while, well until 2016.

Jimmy Carter: Wilson’s Outburst ‘Based On Racism’

ATLANTA (AP) — Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act “based on racism” and rooted in fears of a black president.

“I think it’s based on racism,” Carter said at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. “There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.”

The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing trend directed at the president that has included demonstrators equating Obama to Nazi leaders.

“Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care,” he said. “It’s deeper than that.”

Jimmy Carter is a disgrace, an anti-semite, and an ignorant old fool as well as one of the worst presidents of the twentieth century. I’m about as interested in his opinion as I am in Bush’s.

Gosh!! I thought that Joe Wilson might have been outraged that the shining example of social advancement for blacks in America would be involved in such an obvious lie.
