Blogathon # 31: Hell’s Kitchen

Time Posted: 12:04am EST

I am sputtering on and am having a hard time coming up with something to talk about from entry to entry. I think it’s too early to be doing this and it’s just going to get worse as the night goes on.

Right now I have reruns of Hell’s kitchen playing on the television. Just like to keep something on just to make sure it’s not too quiet. I love this show cause there is nothing more fun to watch than an angry brit screaming at dumb Americans who can’t cook. It’s fun to watch, and this week FOX started a new season of Hell’s Kitchen last Tuesday. Based on what I have seen so far, this looks like it’s going to be one hell of a season. Even during the whole opening ‘watch Gordon test your prize dishes’ had fireworks… that’s how intense this class of cooks are. There was one cook that just challenged Ramsey from minute # 1. This cook is from the marines, and by the way he conducts himself, you think he’s mad all the time and is ready to drag someone out back to beat the snot out of him.

When Ramsey asked him to sample his own dish, he said “Sure, give me a fork.” Ramesy replied by telling the military cook he could use his hands and the he replied by saying, “I’m not an animal.”

Wow, not was I expected on day 1, but that was ballsy to challenge him outright like that in front of everyone. At the end of the episode, Ramsey asked this cook to tell him what people his team nominated for elimination. Usually this is a good thing when Ramsey calls on you to tell him the picks cause that means you’re not one of them in his eyes. In other words, when asked that is a good thing. Instead the Marine gave Ramesy more lip and the Brit started to take offense.

What happened next is so intense, you gotta see it for yourself:

When I first saw this, I was like… holy crap, this man really wants to kick the crap out of Chef Ramsey. Does he? Probably not, but it made for a good episode and of the rest of the season is half this good… it’s going to be fun to watch over the summer.

There’s another entry, see you in 30.
