Very funny quote about something political…

I hate to streal this from Popeye, but I roared with laughter when I read it as did my wife and my brother and a few other friends I read/e-mailed it to. The issue at hand trying to be discussed was President Obama’s (sounds nice, doesn’t it?) decision to reverse Bush’s decision to stop funding overseas programs that offer abortion as an option. The person in question freaked out about this decision, calling Obama a supporter of children being murdered after they are born and all that bullocks we heard during the election. And then I came across this little gem:

“And as for the abortion thing, I am simply getting to the point that this is just a stepping stone leading towards the democrats trying to make abortion legal in the US. That’s all I’m saying there.”

Wow, can you believe to complete ignorance of this comment? Where could one start with such a shallow and very misinformed opinion? I guess you could always start with the obvious, that the evil baby killing Democrats are not going to try to make abortion legal in the US… because it already is.

Talk about the mother of all brain farts, unless this person is unaware that back in the 70’s, the result of a certain case called Roe Vs. Wade… the Supreme Court of the United States made a historic and sweeping decision that pretty much legalized the procedure. So my question is why would a Democrat (or any other politician for that matter) want to campaign or fight to legalize something that is already legal?

It’s one thing to get upset about Obama’s decision to fund programs overseas that have a history of promoting abortion as an option to women… but there are other logical reasons to do so rather than just angrily calling everyone baby killers. Maybe in this economy taxpayers shouldn’t pay for programs overseas and nations should fund their own programs instead. If the said diary posted a logical complaint like that rather than spewed out hatedful comments and just called people names rather than provided some rather sound debate, people would take him/her much more seriously and let comments like that pass as a small mistake.

But combined with those hateful comments, this aboce mistake gives everyone the impression that this simple minded and extremely ignorant. I would recommend this person consult a few history books, maybe a newspaper or two before coming back to the politics circle.

This is hardly the land of enlightenment..

Thanks for your note. I normally avoid overly religious writers altogether since there is no point in ever getting sense into them. The brainwashing goes deep. That would be the invention of the century, an anti-brainwashing device. Maybe Holosync fits the bill, I am not sure. But the person has to be willing to undergo the treatment..

I think that guy might want to get himself checked out for a mental deficiency.
