McCain Confesses: Obama is Not a Socialist!
Last night was the 30 minute Obama infomarcial. To be honest, I thought it was well made and served the purpose it was made for. It delivered a strong, compassionate message to the undecided voters and gave them a look at Barack Obama personally rather than what people had been seeing through the media and from the other side. Let’s put it this way, this Obama special was a vast improvement from the last time this happened, which consisted of Ross Perot talking from a desk and pointing at pie charts for a half hour. In all it was a good show, considering it was just a really long poltical ad.
But McCain had his chance to rebut later that night, as he was a guest at 9pm on CNN’s Larry King Live. Rather than explain his own platform, all McRage was capable of doing was attack, attack and attack. McCain has had a rough time during some interviews, but many assumed he would be all right since King wasn’t know for being too rough with his guests. Turns out I was in error as King managed to get some interesting quotes from McCain last night. About halfway thorugh the show that aired last night, John McCain actually admitted that he doesn’t think Barack Obama is a socialist, which runs counter to most of his campaign rhetoric for the past week. The admission is very reminiscent of when McCain, after days of hammering Obama about a supposedly sexist remark, finally conceded that Obama probably wasn’t calling Sarah Palin a pig when referencing “lipstick on a pig” at a campaign speech.
Here is the quote, ripped right from the show’s transcript
KING: You don’t believe Barack Obama is a socialist, do you?
MCCAIN: No. But, I do believe — I do believe that he’s been in the far left of American politics
Straight from Sen. McCain’s lips comes a contradiction of everything they’ve been pushing at their rallies for the week. Talk about stepping in it big time, and on Larry King! This guy usually just tosses softballs and is considered one of the weakest to be interviewed by, and McCain couldn’t even hold his ground with this old geezer. This comment leads me to suspect a few scenerios:
1) McCain intetionally puts the word out, let’s it soak into the psyche of the typically illiterate, ass kissing righties and then retracts his statement later when he knows the damage is already done. If this is the case, then McCain is really sinking to new lows as far as this utterly disgraceful campaign is concerned.
2) Perhaps McCain didn’t mean to say this statement, which could suggest he’s going senile and is slowly losing his marbles as his old age. It happens when people get into their 70’s, and while that kind of President worked in the early 80’s during the Cold War, do you really want that kind of leadership with today’s problems? I didn’t think so… and this is just another reason why McCain still refuses to release his medical records to the public.
3) The admission is also reminiscent of when McCain said in the third debate, “I don’t care about an old washed up terrorist.” and then in the same debate he went on about it and the next day unleashed a tsumani of horrid robocalls. Even though he just admitted that Obama is not a socialist, McPants on Fire is still going to claim Obama is a socialist the next day and the next five days on the campaign trail and pretend that the Larry King interview never happened. After 8 years of Bush & Cheney lying to the public and not being honest with anyone, do Americans really want another gutless liar back in the Whitehouse?
I don’t know about you, but all three of these points all suggest the same thing: John McCain is unfit to be President of the United States. The people of America deserve much better than a Senile 72 year old man who is incapable of running a clean campaign (despite promising to run one) and can’t stop lying. That is not the kind of leadership the United States or the free world really needs right now, which ish why I’m hoping the polls an the current electorial maps stay true and lead to a pretty resounding Obama victory on Tuesday (knock on wood).
It’s going to make for a very interesting election night this coming Tuesday. To use a baseball metaphor for McCain, it’s the bottom of the nineth, the other team is winning by at last five runs and the closer is on the mound. The odds are stacked against the GOP Nominee, who apparently cannot control his campaign, his Vice Nominee (who can’t stick to script) or voice his own message or idea for change. I’m afraid it’s too late for McCain, the ship is sinking so fast that the GOP is already trying to point fingers and find someone to blame. With so many mistakes and a completely mismanged campaign, you could always start at the top with McCain… but I’m sure they’ll be enough to go around.
But just as a quick reminder to end this entry. McCain said it himself:
Obama is not a socialist!
Let’s hope that finally puts this debate to rest!

It is the typical Republican approach. Have some nameless groups do the dirty work for you and pretend to be above it all. It worked for Bush in 2000 when he had someone spread lies about McCain having an illegitimate black child. It is amazing how McCain sucked up to Bush afterwards, like a dog that you kick and then it comes back up to you to appease you.

Meh. It’s pretty standard political procedure to say something that’s not true throughout a campaign, then giving a more nuanced explanation once or twice to seem above it all. Nothing much to get excited about.
