John Bush is his own man…

Former VP Canidate Ridge made a big time freudian slip on network television:

Obama needs to put taht into an ad as soon as possible. Even the Republicans can’t tell the difference between Bush and McCain, it will make for a great campaign slogan. Speaking of campaign ads, check this interesting one out:

I really liked this ad, was very upbeat and had the feel of something you would expect from someone like Michael Moore. I especially liked that last part with McCain nailing his own coffin with his own words. Priceless…

Now here is a clip from the Daily Show that some people have posted but a few members have had problems seeing because of issues with Comedy Central. This one was posted on You Tube so it will work for everyone one this time. It’s a great clip about the Hypocrisy coming from the GOP concerning Sarah Palin’s nomination and the playing of the ‘Gender Card’:

Amazing video, and clearly it shows that the hypocrisy of the GOP knows no bounds. It’s perfectly okay to bash Hillary Clinton, but if you try to talk about Sarah Palin, you’re sexist. What a load of hogwash, and it’s silly of the GOP to even try to get away with this when there is likely an archieve of footage of everyone in the GOP harping on about Hillary that Stewart can use against them. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more scenes like that in the weeks to come.

As for McCain’s big speech, this clip pretty much sums up what I thought of it:

That about covers it. Didn’t need the barf bag, but it seriously lacked substance. His ‘fight, fight, fight’ rally call at the end will likley scare voters away more than draw them in… especially where independents are concerned. People don’t support the war, so the them of ‘fight with me’ might not be a popular theme. It was a complete dud, especially compared to last week’s speech by Obama. Will be interesting to see how the polls change as a result of this, I think the GOP convention was a complete failure since they failed to deliver any kind of message or present any kind of policy. It was just jokes and attacks. I can see them actually taking a fall cause of it. We’ll have to wait and see…

to be sure, i’d never rely on the daily show as “news,” as some people claim to do, but it is definitely one of my favourites, and that video right there represents what the show does best: turning people’s own words against them. they even back up their low-brow jabs with video evidence. last night’s critique of Sens Foghorn Leghorn (Fred Thompson) and Droopy Dog (Joe Lieberman) made my sides hurt.

Yeah, I think he’s a bit behind the times. Most of America was up in arms right behind Bush when he first sent troops to Iraq, but most have since decided it wasn’t that great an idea after all. McCain’s rally cry would have won everyone over a couple years ago, but I think (I seriously hope, anyway) it won’t work today.

The real, non-Freudian slip came from conservative pundits Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy who described Palin’s nomination as “political bullshit about narratives.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/sep/03/uselections2008.sarahpalin2
