Barack’s historic speech from Invesco Field…

When was the last time over eighty-thousand people gathered to witness someone accept a major party’s nomination? The answer is never. The last time there was an outdoor gathering before this the LA Collesium in 1960, and that was also for a democratic nominee. And when do you last recall Times Square filling up to witness the acceptance speech of a major party nominee? I don’t think that’s ever happened either, but if you can remember a time when it did… feel free to correct me. With people watching all over the world and a massive 38 million households tuning in to watch, barack Obama accepted the nomiantion for President of the United States infront of a massive audience and knocked their socks off with what I thought was one of the best speeches I have ever heard. That my friends is the stuff history is made of and history indeed was made Thursday night…

My wife Leah and I witnessed such history that night as we watched Barack Obama’s historic speech from Invesco Field in Denver. We watched in awe as the Democratic Nominee delivered what was his finest speech to date in front of a packed audience of more than eighty-thousand people. That was a marvel to witness as close to a hundred thousand people converged at one place just to hear a politican speak. The GOP will be lucky if the get that many people the entire four days of their convention. The speech itself was magnificent, as Obama finally went on the offensive and took shots at both John McCain and George W. Bush and also finally gave us examples of the kind of change he has in store for Ameirca. Here were a few of my favorite parts from the speech:

“It’s not because John McCain doesn’t care; it’s because John McCain doesn’t get it.”

This is a strong point to make. McCain isn’t a person who doesn’t care about America (clearly he does) but is a senile old man who is out of touch with what is going on to real people in the real world. This is a reference to the fact that McCain not only thinks that there is no recession but that the economy is ‘strong’ or that the surge in Iraq is working when it’s clearly not. He’s out of touch with the major issues and just lives in his own world and as Obama put it, just doesn’t get it. It’s a line that I hope he and the party uses often cause it fits.

“You know, John McCain likes to say that he’ll follow bin Laden to the gates of Hell, but he won’t even follow him to the cave where he lives!”

Slap! This one was a mighty slap not only to McCain but to Bush Administration for what was their biggest failure… that being having Osama Bid Laden trapped in the mountains Tora Bora and pretty much letting him escape into Pakistan. I thought it was smart of Barack to use McCain’s own words from the Saddleback Forum against him, just a shame he never made mention of a certain Russian who wrote about his times in the Gulag.

“You don’t defeat a terrorist network that operates in 80 countries by occupying Iraq. You don’t protect Israel and deter Iran just by talking tough in Washington. You can’t truly stand up for Georgia when you’ve strained our oldest alliances.”

Another slap for George & Co. as well as McCain who wants to keep the war going on for a lot longer than Obama does. But the Senator from Illinois was right, if your alliance is no longer as good as it used to be, you can rely on it to resolve internation incidents when it all hits the fan. All you have to do is look at how slow Russia is pulling out of Georgia to see how seriously Bush & Co. are being taken. The Iraq war has burned a lot of bridges, and caused problems for the US, and having McCain at the helm will not mend them… if anything it will burn more bridges and possibly cause more wars. Something I don’t think the people want nor can afford…

Everyone had given Barack a great convention leading up to this night, but it was up to him to close things out and I don’t think he could have given a better speech as he clearly knocked it out of the park. He took the time to give people a chance to find out what kind of person he was and what kind of President he wants to be, and it was a great sales pitch… one that I think will hit home with a lot of independents and even Republicans who are tired of the crap everyone has had to put up with for the past 8 years.

It was the speech that people will be talking about decades from now, about close to a hundred thousand people packing a football stadium just to hear him speak about what he wants to do with the nation. No matter what your politics are, Thursday was a day for the history books. Barak Obama is the first African American to be nominated by a major political party for President – and as I said above it was on the anniversary of MLK, Jr’s. “I have a Dream” speech. If you didn’t get just a teensy butterfly in your stomach over this… then you simply don’t have a heart. It’s as simple as that. It was an amazing speech from an amazing man, and during every moment of that speech he looked and acted very Presidental… and seemed ready to take the job today.

If you guys vote for Obama, the United States in my opinion will once again be the beacon of light for freedom and democracy that it once stood for. Stand up and vote and get this guy in office because he will make the whole world a better place – not just America. He’s the cure for the disease that the GOP has been poisoning the world with for the past eight years, and for everyone’s sake… the last thing America and the world needs is another four years of Neocon politics with an ill tempered, old and very uncaring John McCain at the helm.

Like I said above, it was a very powerful speech and I am truly excited for some of the head to head debates coming up. I’m also very interested to see how the GOP will respond, because the last 4 days is going to be a very, very tough act to follow. One of the best comments I heard right after Sen. Obama finished his speech was made by Chris Matthews, host of the Hardball program on MSNBC and a former speech writer for a Republican president who was covering the convention with Keith Olbermann. Matthews said: “I’ve taken a lot of heat from my critics for saying Obama inspires me with his speeches. Well, my critics can go to hell.” Well said, Mr. Matthews.

It was a great speech. Let’s see what the fascist convention will be like the coming week.

RYN: I agree. I’m still worried that the polls aren’t reflecting the need for change. It’s still early though.

“The coverage after, that I was watching, from MSNBC, I mean these guys were ready to have sex with him.” Bill Maher talking about Olberman and Matthews. The reason the polls aren’t reflecting the need for “change” is because many of us aren’t drinking the kool aid that The Obama is pouring. He’s not running against Dubya. btw, I watched the speech, he gives good teleprompter.

Why do SK’s notes always involve some reference to sex? Maybe feline intercourse is hotter than the human version, but he should really keep his little tail between his legs.

I found a smart person LOL ,you get it !!!! I wish others would get it like fox news.!!! Lovetears
