Nice fixings…
First full day back at the house, and I thought it would be cool to do something nice. Fixed up a great dinner for Leah, and really made an effort out of it. One thing I love about doing the shopping, is that you can virtually hand pick that day’s menu based on what you’re in the mood for that day, which is what I got to do when Ethan and I hit the grocery store. I picked out a few cool things and really put together something interesting. The kids are a tad too picky to work with so I whipped up something familar for them, but made the following for Leah:
(The main course, a stir fry that mainly consisted of chopped Veal and mixed veggies…)
(This was new, but something I always wanted to try: a four cheese Risotto.)
(Some wine never hurts, either.)
(Not the classiest setup in the world, but I think it’s the effort that counts…)
It was nothing earthshattering, but an effort. I saw the chance to try a fresh variation or something new, yet nothing too ambitious and took it. Leah and Chris both loved the new stuff and really enjoyed the meal, and it turned out all right. The Risotto which I was super worried wouldn’t turn out was a big hit but is something that I wouldn’t want to eat all the time, it would get too bland too quickly. But it was nice to try…
In all it was a quiet day with the kids and the wife. Tomorrow should be a little more interesting. hopefully everyone else will have a good Friday and I’ll be around.

risotto is a risky thing but you pulled it off! I cant think of that dish any more without remembering how they constantly f*ed it up on Hells Kitchen for the first season!
