Happy Canada Day!

This is the first time in a few years that I have celebrated Canada Day away from my native soil, but that doesn’t mean I won’t celebrate the day with the kids and have a good time. We’re going to cook something on the BBQ, go swimming and have a fun time .

Not only will we do our little mini celebration of Canada Day, but this is the 2nd time I’m going to be down here for the 4th of July. We’ve been invited to a block party/BBQ that’s being held in my Dad’s street. People are going to roll their BBQs up the road to a corner of the street and just have big cookoff and drink and have a merry ol’ time. Sounds grand to me.

Not only will be BBQ a few steaks for ourselves, but the host of this event is going fire up a massive smoker and do some authentic southern BBQ Pork, something I’ve heard of and watched on the Food Network but never had the pleasure of trying. So I’ll get that chance on Friday, and that will be a lot of fun. To show my appreacaition for the invite, I’m going to do a little cooking of my own and make some salads to going with all this amazing BBQ food that is going to be made. I’m going to make my amazing Spiral Macaroni Salad as well as a Newfie Mustard Salad. I love the mustard salad, and mashed potatoes and mustard is deeply loved down here so I think the concept of the mustard salad and it’s mixture could be a very, very big hit down here. I think it could be embraced especially because it’s a cold salad… and you can never have too many cold salads when it’s 90+ degrees outside. So that’s my plan of attack, hopefully that will work in my favor.

So to my Canuck readers, have a very fun and safe Canada day! We will do the same down here Music City and I’ll be back soon to post more news, and maybe some cool pictures! Until then, take care…

Peter

The Guy made mustard salad to bring to his staff party up north, and it went over like $100 bills… there wasn’t enough in the bowl to lick when he got it back. I imagine the palettes of the Yanks aren’t all that different. Eat some of that BBQ Pork for me, man… yowza, I’d like to try that.

RYN: Yes I am likely. Too bad that disappoints you ;P. I’ll bake ya an apple pie. After all we saw how awesome socialized medicine treated you a couple months back. That, and the legions of pregnant women driving to the US to give birth, because of our AWFUL health care services.
