Bush’s Supposed Last SOTU Address…
The reason why I call it the ‘supposed’ last State Of the Union Address is because I won’t believe Bush will leave office until he does. I’m on a ‘believe it when I see it’ policy when it comes to Bush leaving office. That hack of a President has stomped on every article of the Constitution so far; waging wars without Congressional approval, wiretaps without warrants, secret energy meetings and a whole mess of other stuff that was a blatant defiance of this oath of office. People are not off the mark when the label this the most corrupt administration in US history. Nixon was impeached for deleting 90 seconds of tape, yet this administration deletes over 400 e-mails so that they don’t fall into the hands of the justice department and nothing happens? This sad state of the government has been a black eye for the US, but it’s not the fault of the people… many people have suspected election fraud for being the true reason for their rise to power. Hopefully this time next year, it will all be over, when we finally have a State Of The Union address that will not focus on 9/11 or fear… and will be spoken by a person who knows how to properly pronounce the word nuclear.
A few moments that made me want to reach for a barf bag:
– King George is suddenly opposed to earmarks, aka pork in the budget? Of course he is, now that his party aren’t the ones benefiting from them. Have you noticed his threat to veto has tripled since the Democrats took power? Go figure.
– Now Boy George is all for balancing the budget? This coming from the guy who squandered the surplus he had when he first came into office? Truth is, he’s not interested in balancing anything… he’s just passing that buck onto the next sucker to fix. But he seemed genuinely sincere about it when he said:
American families have to balance their budgets, so should their government.
Wait, Im supposed to be balancing my budget? Uh oh.
– Apparently Iran (which Boy George has been accusing in rather vague terms of being behind everything we dont like throughout the Middle East) should come clean about your [he refers to it in the second person] nuclear intentions and past actions. Sure, whatever.
I remember having a debate with someone about Iran’s ‘nuclear ambitions’. That person thought the story about using the plant to give power to the people was lame since they have a boatload of oil. I countered by saying that why would you sell Oil to your own people who would expect a hometown discount, when you can sell it to the US and more importantly a starved China for four times more?
By giving cheap nuclear power to the people, you can can make out like a bandit selling the oil to suckers who will pay hand over fist for it overseas. Making crapload more profit on your oil sounds like a good motive to provide cheap nuclear power for your people, doesn’t it? I doubt the people of Iran don’t care where the electricity comes from as long as they’re not the ones being gouged.
As a former ‘Oil Man’, you’d think King George would understand that when considering their reasons for wanting nuclear power.
– Aparently if the US doesn’t pass a free trade agreement with Colombia, they will embolden the purveyors of false populism in our hemisphere. I’m sure King George was making reference to the every out spoken Hugo Chavez, although I did find it amusing that ABCs cameras turn to quickly show John Kerry.
– Bush says America opposes genocide in Sudan.
Gee, that’s nice to know George. Plan on doing anything about it anytime soon? Oh wait, I keep forgetting… there’s no oil in Sudan.
In all, this was another Bush snoozer. Right now he’s a lame duck and everyone knows it. But we have to look on the bright side, at least he didn’t declare war on Iran… though I suspect he was sincerely tempted. With a little lucky, we’ll see a Democrat give a much better State Of the Union Address this time next year.
It will be interesting to see who or what kind of setting next year’s address will have, but many are hoping that’s the last address we’ll see from this lame duck President. Something I know a few political buds toasted to last night. I’m still on a see it when I believe it stance, but hope they’re all right and that King George will step down without a fight and follow the law of the land. Until then, we’ll have to wait and see.

I didn’t watch the SOTU speech so I won’t comment on your commentary. But I will comment on this notion that the radical left has that Bush won’t leave office next year. It’s this kind of conspiracy nonsense that makes the left look completely ridiculous, as it did with the right in the 90’s. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that Bush will not leave next January, you and no oneelse has any evidence to the contrary.

I only watched part of it last night. I recorded it and I think I’m going to try to take it a little bit at a time. It’s too infuriating to watch all at once.

You suffered through the SOTU? DAMN YOU’RE GOOD. I accidentally tuned to public radio before it was over and had to switch it immediately.

You gotta love cheap shots by chumps who don’t have enough guts to write entries of their own.

Good commentary and I’m in agreement on all your points. I had to turn it off in the middle (although I saw the beginning and end) because I couldn’t stomach it anymore. He’s the biggest fake ever and I could slap that smug look off his face very easily. I also agree with you on the whole “believe it when you see it” re: Bush leaving office. Martial law anyone? (my personal worry)

I watched about two minutes and felt my blood pressure rising. I can’t wait til he is out of there!
