Long Road Out Of Eden

I had to pick up a few odds and ends for the kids, so I hit my local Wally Mart to get them. Got a few new sets of PJs for Jonathan, something else for Ethan and then did a little browsing to kill some time. Jonathan doesn’t mind browsing and Ethan’s at JK today so I got to look around and see what caught my attention. I forgot it was released yesterday, but I caught the display in the electronics department for the album titled ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’, which is the first fully original release by The Eagles in over twenty-eight years.

Leah and I love the Eagles… and we were curious to see how good this ‘new’ album was going to be. One thing I found interesting is that Wallmart was the exclusive vendor for this new album. You can’t find it at any other music store, and we both thought that was quite a coup for Wally Mart. It wasn’t the first time the did something like this as they were the exclusive store for Garth Brook’s last release. since they were the long vendor, I assumed the price for the two disc, 20 song set was going to cost a pretty penny since this was technically a music monopoly. I looked at the disc but there was no tag, so I walked up to the nearest counter and asked them to price check it for me. I thought to myself if the album was less than $20, I’d get it as a belated birthday gift for myself. Then she gave me the price: $11.88

I looked back at her in utter disbelief, “This is the new album. Are you sure about that?” I asked. She checked again. Same price came up again. Only one word flashed through my mind at that point: SOLD!

Jonathan is napping and I’m listening to the new album on my MP3 player. So far I’m extremely impressed with this piece of work. So far it’s all killer and no filler. The new songs all have the same feel as their previous albums do with the same wonderful solos, Guitar riffs and in your face lyrics that really defines what the Eagles were (and still are) about! You listen to this album and it’s hard to believe this is the first original album they’ve release in almost three decades. I’m seriously impressed, and for this price it was quite the deal. Normally it takes a few runs throught he album to get a good feel for it, but halfway through I knew this was something I’m going to keep on the MP3 player for quite a while. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 28 years for them to come out with something this kickass again…

That is going to be one of my daughter’s Christmas presents. I’m glad to hear it is a good album.

That is a great price. I’d always wanted all the Garth Brooks cds since a stepdad took them from me when I was 15. When Walmart became the exclusive seller, they were selling all the older ones at Christmas for $4.88 a piece. I’m not kidding. It was great!
