Voting is fun!
Yesterday I took the time to partake in my first election since moving back to Hammer Town. Yesterday was a historic election for the province of Ontario not only because of what seemed like a close race between Liberals and Conservatives, but because of the provice’s first referendum since 1924. The question asked was whether or not the people wanted to reform how MPP’s are elected. I could go into detail about it, but there’s no point as the people voted against it and wanted to keep the status quo.
Yesterday while Ethan was at JK, I took Jonathan to the closest polling station and cast my vote. For my the decision was an easy one, as I voted for the party I always vote for, the New Democratic Party. This was an easy vote cause I’m a long time supporter of the NDP, and the party’s canidate runnning in this district is a really nice person so it was a no brainer for me. Cool part is the person I voted for won! Gotta love it when that happens. I think I’ll take Jonathan again with me for the next election, that little guy is a rabbit’s foot.
I consider voting a huge responsiblity, so nothing upsets me more than someone refusing to exercise that right. I mean if someone is upset with all their choices and doesn’t want to vote, that’s a responable position to have. But not voting simply cause you can’t be bothered is bullocks, and if you can’t be bothered to cross a single X on a piece of paper, then don’t come bitchin’ to me when the government cuts funds from a program you like and what not.
My Dad always said, if you don’t cast a vote… you don’t have the right to bitch and complain about the results. I happen to agree, which is why I got my ass out to the polls yesterday. It was fun casting a vote to support my party and help them win a riding… and that was my hightlight of hump day.
Hope everyone here is having a good week and I’ll try to be around a little more as the week goes on. Until then, take care…
Peter
Ihad a hard time voting yesterday because of what the advanced polls were already indicating, and it annoys me because all you hear is how everyone supposedly wants McSquinty gone, but yet, majority win again, I just didn’t see the point in it, but I did vote, my guy did not win :

Ah you just need to mark an X, so yeah no excuses. We had those ‘punchout’ ones and we all know how THAT worked out. It worked perfectly 😉

I slightly disagree. Usually people who can’t be bothered to vote use the excuse that all the choices suck. I don’t know what Ontario electoral law is like but in most places you can write in someone’s name if you don’t like any of the listed candidates. I have no patience for ANY PERSON who whine incessantly about their elected officials and then chooses not to vote.

Yeah, voted on Tuesday. I usually vote NDP too, but we didn’t have that option in this district. Meanwhile, it was such a landslide, it was nuts. But as much as I’m fairly pleased with the current government – nothing good ever came out of a 70% majority.

Can you cast blank votes? We can here

“nothing good ever came out of a 70% majority” Well 70% of Americans supported the Iraq Aggression when it was launched! Oh wait…

Voting is so important. I wish more younger people in America would take advantage of it.

Heard who’s been cast as Scotty?

To tea… a lot of us younger ones here in the states do take advantage of it… it’s the older generations who vote with their party on every single issue, regardless of their own feelings on the issue or the person that gets to me. If you don’t understand the issue of health care, don’t vote for that section. Don’t just follow what the conservative mouth pieces tell you. Screws it up for those

of us who truly depend on that particular bill and spent weeks researching. There are a lot of issues with voting, in my opinion. Glad you got out there and marked your ballot, Peter. It’s vital!
