Writing from around a block…
It happens to everyone who likes to write. For the last week or so I have been unable to put together a single sentence. Nothing. No columns, no articles, no diary entries. I haven’t had the energy to even toss up a survey, just didn’t feel like doing anything. A break is sometimes a good thing. While little has happened in the last while, I have a few updates to report on.
– Ethan is three weeks into Junior Kindergarden and the verdict is in: he loves school. Let’s see if he’s singing that tune a few years from now when he’s bringing homework back by the knapsack full. We try to pry details out of him, but will eventually have to talk to his teacher to get the nitty gritty, but the fact that Ethan is first in line to get back on the bus and wants to go back everday has to be a good sign.
– Leah is going home this weekend. She hasn’t been back to the island to visit her family is almost a year, so we think she was due. She’s going to fly home for a short visit for Thanksgiving, see everyone for four days and then fly back. I wish she could have more time to hang out and catch up, but that’s all she could spare from work. Hopefuly we’ll do something better next year when she gets more vacation time.
– Speaking of doing cool things this weekend, I am looking forward to this Saturday’s Jesse Cook Concert I wrote about last week. This is going to be a spectacular show, and the only regret I have about it is that I can’t share it with Leah. Funny that we are both going to do something fun this weekend and it involves us going our separate ways to do it. Something we’ll have to discuss with the councellor when we see her at the end of the month.
– The baseball season is over, and while I’m disappointed that my Jays didn’t make it to the postseason… there were a lot of surprises that will make the playoffs worth watching. The Phillies and the Rockies are dangerous and if not taken seriously could go very, very far in the postseason. Ditto for the Indians…
– Before my writing ability took a one week hiatus, I was madly writing reviews and recaps for a website that my friend launched early last week. I’ve been writing for http://www.filmmelt.com which is a site that concentrates on TV/Movie stuff. I know a bit so it was a piece of cake to toss in my two cents about all things TV and movies… go there and check it out if you have a moment.
Like I said, not much to report on, but this is a start. I’m surprised i managed to spit out this much for an entry today. Hopefully I’ll come back tomorrow and post another one or two but I make no promises. If not, have a good week and I’ll try to be around…

I just noted the Hammer Town thing on your diary. It brought back memories. I grew up in a place called Barker’s Point which is now a part of Fredericton, NB. When I was a child two black guys robbed and murdered a taxi driver with a hammer. After that our town was called Hammer Town.

I wish I would have put my predictions for the world series down in an entry just before post-season started, because i was right on! I picked the Rockies (though I didn’t think they’d knock everyone out in three games!) and the Indians. I saw them both play this year in person and I was highly impressed w/ the Indians. One more game and it’s in the bag! Now watch the RS come back UGH I hope not!
