Well it’s about time!

After being nominated for more than half a dozen movies and coming up empty so many times… Marty finally had his day.

The Departed was a really good movie, so no one can say that Marty didn’t deserve this win. It’s a good movie to end a streak with, and it was nice to see Scorsese finally get what he’s been deserving of for a while now.

– A lot of the awards were no brainers, as everyone expected Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker to take the best acting awards like they did at every other award show this year.

– I was rooting for Marky Mark to add to Departed’s Oscar total, but it was cool to see Alan Arkin take it home.

– The part with Al Gore and Decaprio was quite amusing, as Leo kept trying to push Gore to use the Oscars to annouce a Presidental run. Unfortuntely he was interupted by the band… funny moment.

– Can’t tell Hollywood is the heart of a blue state when a documentary about the environment walks out with two Oscars, eh?

In all it was an interesting oscar night. We could have done without the Will Farrell/Jack Black musical thing, but it was tolerable. Hope everyone had a good weekend and I have today off so I’ll be back to post a real entry later…

I didn’t watch it but I’m happy for Scorcesse (sp). He’s made some great movies and my husband, who saw the Departed. said it was one of his best.

The Oscars bored me silly this year. Ellen was pretty good, but other that her… honestly, they’ve got to find a way to cut that sucker down.
