Finally some good weather…
Over the last few days, the weather has finally been above zero. Compared to the friggin’ freeze we’ve been in for the last two weeks, that feels like spring around here. Yesterday was especially beautiful, and it was a good day to take the boys out for a small trip to the mall. Well, actually the main reason for our trip was to get Jonathan his long overdue 12 month vacinations. Since we haven’t managed to find a new family doctor here in town yet, Chris and I took the boys to a walk in clinic and got them to give him his new needles. Jonathan got one in each leg, and he cried for a moment but was good after a minute or two. He’s a tough little guy and was over it rather quickly. We managed to get that done with quickly since we went first thing in the morning to avoid any lineups at the clinic, we took the boys to the mall to walk around a bit and do a little shopping. Ethan was outgrowing his PJ’s so I used this moment to buy a few for him and get him some sweet new shirts since a lot of stuff was on sale.
After that we browsed the mall for a while. We took Ethan to a really big petstore, and he had a ball at that place. He loved looking at all the animals that were there, but there were some that grabbed his attention more than others. There was a Golden Lab Puppy that was very playful. Ethan was also very eager to check out the repitle room, and that freaked me out a bit. I hate snakes, but Ethan was facinated by them and looking at them with his face less than an inche from the glass with wide-eyed enthusiasm. After I managed to drag Ethan away from the pet store kicking and screaming, we then went to an electroics store cause Chris needed to purchase some blank DVDs. While we were in the store, I let Ethan wander around just as long as he didn’t get too far away from me. There was one point when I was standing there at the end of one of the rows, when Ethan walked up and said, “What’s that?” pointing at one particular item.
I looked at the item and replied, “That is a Playstation 3.”
Ethan looked at the box that was on display and then back at me, “I like playstation 3.” he said, not really sure what it was, but he liked it none the less.
“Maybe if you save up your allowance.” I replied before grabbing his hand and moving off towards another section of the store.
There was another time during this trip when he asked for something, and since that item didn’t cost over $500… it seemed like a reasonable request. He had a nerf basketball bath set. It was only a few bucks and he was short on bath toys, so what the hell. it was a small purchase and I didn’t get to spoil him too often. A friend joked with me that Ethan probably used the P3 to bargin high and settle lower to work me for what he really wanted. I think Ethan is a smart cookie, but not that far just yet. It’s funny he was so interested in the P3 bue he’ll have to live with the P2 which he doesn’t even know how to use yet, so he’s a far, far distance for getting any closer to the P3. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about it anyway so I’m not too keen on getting it. I’d rather take a chance on a wii, but until Ethan and Jonathan get a little older, chances are I’ll stick with the P2 until they find a console of preference.
But in all it was a fun day. I got to take the kids out for some shopping, and even out for lunch. We all had a good time, and it’s a sample of the kind of fun we’ll have when all this white stuff eventually goes away. I don’t mind winter most of the time, but when it prevents everyone from getting outside and in the open air, it’s a royal pain in the arse. Summer won’t be that pleasant either as just like too much cold, too much hot will keep us indoors and with the AC blasting as well. Hopefully it won’t be too bad here in the summer, but we’re preparing for the worst. We have access to two air condictioners, and plan to smartly put them in the house to best benefit the kids when trying to play indoors. Something we’ll have to deal with, but have plenty time to work the kinks out.
So I’m back at work after a few days off, and things are going all right. I’ve even got a little OT booked for tonight as well which is cool cause you can never have too much money coming your way. I hope everyone else has a good hump day, and I’ll be around. Until then… take care.

Spring, glorious spring. I wish it would get here soooooooon. I know I’m whining, but I’m really sick of walking to the car and getting face-freeze.

I’m going to school in the summer, and I can’t wait. I’ll think of you all, sitting as close as you can to the ACs, while I’m enjoying the natural breezes and sunny weather of the Island…. :p It sounds like you had a blast with Ethan, snow or no snow.
