As if I didn’t have enough distractions…

My brother Chris is a video game junkie. He loves to spend his time playing games, and his preference is roleplaying and shooting games. I personally am more of a sports game kind of guy… since I like the idea you can do the same season a thousand times, and results can vary from year to year. Shooting games and other RPGs are all the same, once you finish playing the game once, it’s all the same boring crap. So rarely can I find a game like those that keep my attention very long. Most times I don’t have the patience for them. Chris wants to find a game that we can both play, since we do have more than one computer in the house, but rarely can we agree on a game. This week, Chris picked up two 14 day trail copies of an RPG game that I actually did try and really enjoy playing: World Of Warcraft.

Last year when Leah and the kids were visiting my parents in Tennessee for two months, I got to try the game when I was hanging with the guys after work, and played the game a few times. It’s a really good game, and the online interactive system makes it much more fun that the regular same old, same old kind of roleplaying game. So with two copies in hand, I logged in Wednesday morning and now you know why there hasn’t been any new entries here in the last two days. It’s a cool game, and in the last two days I’ve managed to complete a few quests since I knew how to do them since I tried them before when I played last year. My Palidan is up to level 7 already, which is pretty sweet… but I’m not in a hurry. I plan to get an extended membership later in the month when I get my first full pay, and then I’ll have plenty of time to fart around. Like the title states, I didn’t need any more distractions, but it’s a nice game to use for venting and just farting around when I’m not in the mood for anything else.

Chris is getting used to the game, since he’s a beginner but is getting the hang of it. Once we get both systems up and in que (one of them is having problems with the game), then we’ll be able to meet up in the virtual world and help each other complete the tasks and quests. It’s been a nice distraction, and Leah doesn’t seem to mind since the only time I do play is when she’s sleeping or working. I’ve been volunteering to wake up with the kids early cause I can watch them and play at the same time in the morning, cause usally all the kids like to do in the morning is eat a snack and watch Ice Age 2 for the millionth time. So it’s been fun, but I don’t and can’t let it take control of what little time I have left.

It’s also good cause when Leah is working and Chris and I have time, we can both go online and play a two player game where we help each other complete the quests. He likes doing stuff like that, and after all the help he’s given Leah and I over the last while… giving him time for something he enjoys is the least I can do. Not that it will require much arm twisting, mind you…

So that’s what I’ve been doing for a lot of my last two days, besides work and take care of the little ones. Hope everyone else is having a good friday and I’ll be around this weekend… especially if the phones are slow at the new center. Until then, take care.

Peter

Are you and Chris in a guild yet? If not, let me get in contact with Phyl (my brother), and he’ll hook you up. It’s sad that I know how to speak this language. :p

Just don’t get hooked to bad. I read an essay once about a guy who basically lost a whole year of his life obsessed with online gaming. Came out the other end about 40 pounds heavier too.
