An embarassing walk to work

It was an interesting walk to work today. In order to get to my bus stop to head to my new job, I have to walk a few blocks of downtown Hamilton to get there. I don’t mind the walk and really enjoy it when the weather is behaving. This morning Chris had the day off, so he offered to walk with me and we took Ethan this morning to give Mom a bit of a break. Leah wasn’t home at the time but I’ll get into that issue in another entry…

While we were walking to my bus stop, I was holding Ethan’s hand while Chris was walking the dog at the same time. Here’s what happened: usually when we walk past light posts or other things, Ethan likes to swipe them whith his hand when he walks by. Just something to do and amuse himself. As we were walking past a crosslight, Ethan took it upon himself to swipe two other black objects with his hand as he walked by, again just to amuse himself. Well, the 22-25 year old women who felt a hand caress their asses were not too impressed with that. I apologized as much as I could and they seemed to be all right when they realized it was a small three year old boy who did it. Chris was killing himself laughing, and I couldn’t laugh because I was trying my best to be the sincere and embarassed Dad, and let Ethan know what he did wasn’t right. Well, I at least tried.

Now that I think about it, it’s quite an amusing story. But something I’ll have to watch out for cause he can’t walk around smacking asses like that. Fun as it may be, it’s not respectful… and that’s what I want to make sure Ethan understands, eventually. I can’t wait to hear Leah’s reaction to this incident, but I’m sure we’ll all eventually just laugh it off as something embarassing to tell his girlfriends.

I’m not mad at the little guy, you can’t be. He didn’t know any better but hopefully one day he will. Chalk this one up as a life lesson learned and thankfully I wasn’t slapped for it. Hope everyone has a good Wednesday as I’m going back to work. Later…
