Crossing the finish line…

I managed to finish writing Chapter 31 this morning. As of right now, my word count is just a little over 51,000 words. The book is no where near finished and can easily expand to 75,000 to 100,000 words before I come anywhere near a conclusion to this narrative. But now that I’ve crossed the NANOWRIMO finish line, I’m going to give the novel a break for a few days and now concentrate on the move.

Leah and I managed to get a lot of stuff packed and tossed out yesterday and we’re going to use our last full day of packing to get finish things up. The movers arrive to take our stuff at 10am tomorrow and we’ll be checking into a hotel at noon. Then on Wednesday around 11am we’ll be flying out and leaving the island at least for a little while. Not sure when or if we’ll ever live here again, but if I have a say, we’ll come back one day.

We’re in the home stretch for the move, and it’s nice to have the novel out of the way at least for a little while. I expect to have a little free time once we’re settled into Hamilton so I intend to use that free time to keep writing and hopefully finish the novel. Once finished, I intend to go into Toronto and hunt for an agent to represent my work. If this novel is just half as good as the feedback I’ve been getting, that shouldn’t be a hard sell.

So that’s the news for today, the novel has passed the goal of 50,000 words. Despite leaving my job and packing to move to a new province, it’s still done. I really enjoyed this experience and plan to do it again next year… and I already have ideas and concepts floating around that I could use. Here’s hoping everyone has a good week and I’ll be back soon!

If it flows out, it’s usually good. Hope the move goes safely and smoothly.

Oh, I would hate to live in Ont. I love the province, it’s beautiful and fun to visit but much too fast for me – in the urban areas anyway.

congratulations! I guess I missed this entry when you first posted it. Especially in the midst of everything going on in your life, this was quite an accomplishment!
