Novel update & the NaNoWriMo survey…

Just before supper, I finished writing chapter six. I didn’t write a single word yesterday, but I had a good excuse being at the hospital and what not. But today I managed to get back on track and write two more chapters! I’m very excited with the direction this book is taking. The plan is to write as much as I can until I run out of juice and then just edit and tweek what I have until the rest of it comes to me. But for now here are the stats at the end of day five:

Chapters finished: 6

Pages Written: 43

Current Word Total: 12,313

As you can see, I’ve been doing all right this week. Despite yesterday’s setback I’m still ahead of the game and doing all right. I plan to get more done at work tomorrow. If I can keep this pace up I might have 20,000 by the end of the week. That would be a good thing. I would like to get this done at least a few days before the deadline. Hope everyone is doing all right and I plan to end this book update with the now infamous NaNoWriMo survey:

1. What’s your NaNoWriMo screenname?

Peter_24601, same as it is here on OD.

2. Why did you decide to do NaNoWriMo?

I wanted to write a novel last year, but was too late to sign up. I promised a friend I would try this year and thankfully I was able to sign up just in time.

3. Have you outlined your book’s plot?

I have a very good idea of where I want this book to go. A lot of it is mapped out in my head but it would be a good idea to write down an outline of where I want to go with this.

4. What genre will your book most likely fit into?

I’ve listed this book as mystery/suspense on the site. There is going to be a little mystery but it’s mostly going to be a cat/mouse like suspense thriller.

5. What’s the title of your book?

My favorites have known this for a while now, but I’ll reveal it now for everyone to see. The title I have chosen for this project is The Manifest. It’s catchy and the best I could think of for this particular novel…

6. What music will you listen to when you write? I usually find it easier to write when I play music with no lyrics. Mainly classic, new age instrumental and movie soundtracks. That’s been doing the trick so far.

7. What’s in your NaNoWriMo survival kit?

Right now, I’m just using the computers and my various emails and this diary as my storage for the novel.

8. How many writing buddies do you have?

I have one, but would love to have more. Leave me with a username if you want me to add you to my list.

9. Do you honestly think you’ll win NaNoWriMo by writing 50,000 words in a month or less?

As I said above, I’m on pace to do just that. I’m hoping to have more than that when it’s all said and done.

10. Do you have any tips for fellow Nanos?

Go with the flow. If you don’t feel like writing, don’t force yourself (unless the deadline is very close). But when the urge to write something comes, drop everything and hit the computer running. When the wave comes, ride it out for all you can get… and that will add more words in one day than a week of forced work.

I’m also doing NaNo…my username is Dancing_Tbka (same as my diary here) if you want to add me to your Writing Buddies list. I’m a little behind at only 5,882 words. But I hope to catch up today, it shouldn’t be too hard if I just stop myself from getting distracted.
