Interesting Survey…

I like doing surveys, because nothing allows someone to get to know you better than to answer random (well mostly random) questions. So here is a good one with some interesting questions that I thought would be cool to answer. Something to do during the dead air between calls. Hope everyone has a decent hump day and I’ll be around…

1. Post a recent photo or describe yourself (physical appearance):

There’s a recente photo, taken last week during Jonathan’s baptism. I forgot to shave and bring a tie, but I look all right. I’m no Brad Pitt, but I think I look all right.

2. Where do you live (city, state/province, region or country)?

I live in a city on the east coast on the Atlantic ocean. A few years ago I lived in another coastal city that was on the Pacific. I think that was cool, but at the moment like being back home on the island.

3. Are your parents still alive? Write something current about your parent(s) or a last memory of them.

Yes, but are still alive and doing all right. Mom and Dad are still living well in Tennessee and are going come up here to the island for the holidays to spend time with Ethan and Jonathan. You know the grandparents love the little ones when they’re willing to put up with our winter to see them for the special days…

4. Do you have any siblings? If so, write one sentence about each of them.

I have two brothers. One older and one younger, which means I’m the gifted and unique middle child.

My older brother Chris is two years my senior. He currently resides in Hamilton, Ontario with his small doggie. He seems content with his current living conditions, though Mom and Dad wish he’d find someone and settle down.

My other brother Matt is two years my junior. He’s married to a lady named Rebecca and they just had their first child, a daughter named Emma. They’re doing rather well, but Leah and I don’t talk to them that much, which is a shame but it happens.

5. Any children or grandchildren? If so, write one sentence about each of them.

Leah and I have two children, both boys. Ethan was born in September 2003, and Jonathan was born last year, December of 2005. Both of they are doing well, and are growing like weeds.

6. Any pets? You know the drill.

The only pet I have right now is my cat Lizzy (Aka Psycho Cat).

7. What is your ancestry (if you can trace it to other countries)?

Not really sure and I don’t really care…

8. What celebrity do you look like?

A lot of people say that I look like John Candy, but despite Leah’s offense to this comment, I think it’s quite the compliment. But if you look at the above photo with the scruffy beard, I’m just a pair of glasses and a hat away from looking like an Oscar winning documentary director…

9. If you were given the power and ability to realize one secret desire, what would it be?

To read everyone’s mind and know what they’re all thinking.

10. What would you like your legacy to be – how do you want to be remembered?

Legacies are for wussies. There are over 3 billion people on this planet, so to hope for a legacy is foolish. I’m here for a short time, I’d rather spend it enjoying time with family and friends. If history chooses to remember me, that’s cool… but not required.

EDIT: There are SIX billion people on this planet… thus making odds of any of us having any kind of legacy remote and slim to nil. Forget nil… it’s just flat out zero.

11. When (date, year, decade or century) and where were you born?

I was born on October 28th, 1975. Place was in Hamilton, Ontario.

12. Where did you live during your early childhood?

I spent the first five years in Hamilton, and the next six in a town called Ancaster, which is right beside Hamilton. Then I moved to the Niagara Region and lived in Grimsby before moving to the island and living here ever since.

13. What were those place(s) like?

Hamilton was interesting, but I don’t remember it too much. Ancaster was fun and I had a lot of friends when I moved away from it. Grimsby was all right, but I’ve enjoyed the island the most cause it’s just been me on my own without the parents.

14. What was happening in your country or in the world when you were a child?

Reagan was President, cold war was in it’s late years and Wayne Gretzky was winning many cups for the city of Edmonton.

15. What is your earliest memory?

I remember when I was around four/five, going over to visit my Grandma a few years before she passes away. I remember watching television and eating cookies while she was doing things around the house.

16. What were your parents like at that time?

They were busy. Dad was on the road a lot for a engineering company he worked for and Mom was doing long hours at the blood lab (nurse).

17. What are your fondest/least favorite memories of childhood?

I remember going to the ballpark with day to see the Blue Jays. This was in the early-mid eighties, back when we sat on the cold benches of old exhibition stadium, and watch the jays of old. Fielders like Ernie Whitt, George Bell, Llyod Mosby and picthers Dave Steib and Jimmy Key made the games exciting to watch. I remember going down to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) park with Mom & Dad during the day and then that night we would catch a Jays game. Those were the best days of the summers for me in the 80’s. I still have the ticket stubbs.

18. Did you have one lasting ‘best friend’ or a series or group of good friends?

I had a lot of friends in my early childhood that I thought were going to be lifelong friends, but I moved far away and it’s been hard trying to keep in touch with them. I’m gonna have to make a long trip home to visit a few of them and surprise the holy hell out of them. That would be a lot of fun, but I can’t afford to make the trip just yet. Maybe one day but not yet…

This is a very interesting survey! And there are indeed more than three billion people on the planet – as in there are six-point-five-five billion people on the planet. I think three billion would feel almost empty!

October 19, 2006

I just did the first half of this survey, it’s a cool one, ryn: we’ve been watching since the beginning too, it’s a great mystery, very intense, full of good drama, I just let things get to me last night, after a long, rainy day, I realized how it could be just that, a PSA in a format most people will get and understand, makes sense to me, is this something they are expecting perhaps? unfortunately what ever it is that is causing these panic attacks sometimes does that to me, sends my mind into overdrive and scares the living daylights out of me, it’s interesting to hear what other people have to say about the show, it’s a very different drama than what we are used too that’s for sure, have a good night Peter
