Baptism and other stuff…
It was a very interesting weekend on the island. My brother Chris arrived around midnight on Saturday and I have to say it’s been nice to have him here over the weekend. I think Ethan really enjoyed seeing his uncle again and we really have to go out of our way to make sure that too much time doesn’t pass between his visits cause it’s been a good visit so far. It’s been a tiring weekend with the late visits and the baptaism yesterday, but it’s the holiday today and I’m back at work and making double time on the holiday. Today happens to be the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday, which is anothe cool reason to have Chris here for the weekend because he’s able to spend thanksgiving with the family. Leah seems pleased to have someone around to talk with and help out when needed. Chris just likes being there and having family to spend the holiday with. The best thing about working this holiday is that when I get home all the work will be done and all I’ll have to do is sit down and just eat, which is fine with me.
The Baptism itself was quite interesting. Leah was happy to hold it here in town cause she used her Aunt’s Church to perform the service which turned out to be all right. There wasn’t a massive crowd because of the holiday which made this easier to endure. We had some friends and family there for support which was really nice, and afterwards we all when back to my place to hang out and eat food that I had prepared that morning. A small sandwich platter and a few other treats were ready and waiting for everyone and it was a good day had by all. Jonathan was well behaved and very quiet during the actual ceremony, and we hired a babysitter to watch Ethan at home cause he was too hyper that morning to handle something quiet and easy going as the church. As amusing as it would have been to watch my boy distrupt the place, it wasn’t the best way to go…so the lucky little bugger got to skip out.
Jonathan had it even better as twice during the service he feel asleep and caught up on some Z’s when no one was looking. Smart little bugger, I thought as I watched the little guy snooze his way through the program. Wish I could do that but since I tend to snoore, it would have been harder for me to get away with it. I doubt Leah would have been impressed with that too. It was all over in a little over an hour and afterwards as I said before everyone came back to my place for sandwiches and small talk. It was nice to have buds over to yap up a storm. After everyone left, Chris and I took Ethan to the mall for a little last minute shopping. We picked up a few things for thanksgiving and also got Ethan his halloween costume. The one I wanted to get was sold out, so Ethan had to settle for something else, but quality wise… I think we did really good for what we got.
So that was my weekend, I hope eeveryone else had a good one as well. I took a lot of pictures of the baptism and of Ethan in his new costume. I’ll post them either tonight or tomorrow. Until then, everyone take care and I’ll be around.
