Storms, movies and a family visit…
It was a busy, but interesting weekend here on the island. I had a chance to work some really early hours… which meant I got home very early and was able to hang out with my boys more than usual for a work day. I enjoyed that and I think Ethan did as well. We have tropical storm Issac heading our way, but the waters up here are very cold so I expect it to loose most of it’s power by the time it comes anywhere near us. So in the end it will be nothing more than a light rain storm…
Over the weekend, Leah went out with her friends to check out a movie. They went to see the The Black Dahlia” which was that new noir type movie directed by Brian DePalma. It looked interesting, but I warned Leah that her and her friends might not enjoy watching that kind of movie. I advice fell on deaf ears and they went anyway and hated the movie with a passion. I thought they would have had more fun watching a movie like “The Guardian” since it’s cliched filled plot would have been more to their liking. Oh well, this is one reason why I haven’t gone to many movies lately… the selection out there blows big time. Chances are I’m probably not going to see another movie until the end of this month when ‘Saw 3’ comes out. A few friends of mine are going to take me out to see that in theatres for my birthday since that day lands on the opening weekend. I’ve see the first two Saw movies on DVD, so to see the third in theatre should be freaky to saw the least. I’m looking forward to that.
But something I’ve likely failed to mention is that this coming weekend is Jonathan’s baptism. Just like Ethan, Leah and I have agreed to a baptism as long as no other religious or non-religious pressure is put on the children after that one. The deal with Ethan has worked out for the better, so there’s no reason to do the same for Jonathan. This time, the baptism will take place here in the city instead of Leah’s hometown which was the locaiton This time it will be at a bigger church here in town and I’ve invited as few friends to come out and share this with us. I don’t expect too many to show up, but my older Brother Chris is flying up from Toronto, so it will be nice to see him. He’ll be in town for a few days and is excited to be here and spend time with the kids. He’ll only be out here for a few days but it will be nice to see him again and I’m sure the kids will enjoy having a member of my side drop in to pay a visit. We don’t get too many visits from my side here on the island, so it will be fun for everyone.
I was thinking of everyone going out for lunch afterwards, but now I’m thinking of having eveyrone come back to my place for small sandwiches and munchies. A small post-baptism get-together for everyone. I’ll make all the food so it won’t cost much and it will be fun. Leah is a little iffy about it but I think she worries too much for little reason. It will be a fun weekend coming cause I’ll have family here and I have that weekend off to boot. It’s something to look forward to and that will make this first full week at the center that much easier to get through.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday, and since things are a tad slow here at the center… I’ll be around. Until then, take care and be good!
Peter

Just a question – did you choose 24601 because you’re a fan of Les MisĂ©rables?

Just saw that Newfoundland has a Tropical Storm warning, hope the family is safe and that you live inland. We never had my daughter baptised, at least I don’t remember it if we did. Maybe we should get her baptised sometime.

It must be nice to get a slow day every once in a while. Glad you got to spend some extra time with the boys. đŸ™‚
