Time go to back to work…

I just got back from the center. I went into the Human Resources office to end my Paternal Leave and request a schedule to return to work ASAP. They didn’t fight me over it, which was expected… word I have been getting from buds still there is they’re still as desperate as ever. So I left my information and they’ll call me back once a schedule has been generated, which likely will be sooner than later. I don’t mind going back. I’ve been off for over four weeks, and it was a good break. That’s four more weeks than a lot of people at the center are getting… so I should be grateful for the time off cause now that the batteries are recharged, I should be able to run back in and kick some ass again.

I’ll be honest, part of me is disappointed to be going back so soon. I was just getting used to being home full time and was getting into a very good routine. The kids were getting used to it as were adjusting very well to the new routine as well. Now we expect them to adjust again and I don’t think that’s fair to me or the kids… but it happens. The boys are pretty easy going so I’m sure they’ll adjust fine, but Leah will have to change a few things and allow some changes I made to stay in place cause they worked so well over the last few weeks.

Another part of me really isn’t surprised, but was hopeful she would be all right. Despite my doubts, I had to let her try. To not let her only would have caused more problems and it gave her a chance to go out and do something. If anything, she’ll be less naggy about her work at home and show more appreciation for the work I do for the household. I don’t think she liked be the breadmaker and will now leave that work to me. I guess it took this little role reversal for use to understand and not take the work we originally did for granted. It wasn’t always easy for me and even I have gained a bit more respect for the work Leah did at home so some good did come out of this little experiment.

Another good thing about it is that the center offers more advance knowledge of time off, so if I want to get a weekend or a few days to shoot the movie, this will give me more advance notice. Leah’s company was bad for that and never gave her any consecutive days off in a row. With overtime still being offered, I’ll be able to stash way some money for the budget of the film too, which isn’t anywhere near what we originally assumed would be needed. I’m determined to get this done, and going back to work changes nothing and if anything gives me more drive to get it done and on the road to screening.

So this is where I stand right now. I always knew I had to go back and while I could bitch and complain about it ending early… I should appreciate the fact that I at least got this much time and a break that was badly needed. This should be enough to make things work, and I hope that Leah does well back at the house with the boys. I think she missed being with them too, so I think things will work out now… hopefully.

I’ll give you more updates as I get them, but until then… I hope everyone has a good Monday and I’ll be around.

I suppose it’s all about learning. You see what she had to deal with and she saw what it’s like for you. It was good for both of you and made you appreciate the other more.
