Movie Update # 1

The first step to any successful film, is to write a good script. I’m not going to pad myself on the shoulder too much, but I think I’ve done just that. Over the weekend, I put the finishing touches on what I think is a pretty decent piece of work. It’s a small 10 page comedy script, and it’s got some whitty lines and a punchline at the end that will have some in stiches and I’m afraid a few who will be completely offended. I guess it would depend on what kind of sense of humor someone has and their tolerance for intolerence. Personally, I think it’s a winner, but my opinion is a smige biast so I emailed it out to a few friends to get their honest opinions about it. The few people I’ve given to so far have written back with rave reviews. They’ve all said it was very funny and think it would make an amazing short film. I’m very encouraged by the feedback I’ve been getting so far, which is good cause humor was never my best genre.

So what is the movie about? I’m not going to give that away just yet. I’ve considered mailing the script out to a few select favorites on OD, but before that I have a few buds I’ve emailed them too I’m waiting to hear back from. So far I’m pleased with what I have heard, but I’m open to suggestions for revisions as well. But the fact that we have a solid script in place, it makes our project a little easier to see coming. Once we get the minor finances in place, we’re going to shoot this thing and make it happen. After talking to my partner in crime about this, we pretty much decided to go black and white on this just to make it easier and cheaper to make. I love the old B&W films too, so to do that for my first project is very cool.

So now that we have a script in hand and some places that we’ve decided would be cool for settings, this thing is looking more real by the day, and that is very exciting. Leah is giving me the silent, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything approach. While she’s not the pillar of support one would expect from a spouse, and a part of me can’t help but understand. Yet I never let the naysayers bug me before, why would I start now?

As I said above, this is very exciting and I plan to post all updates here as they happen. A new chapter is beginning and let’s hope this one has a positive result.
