A Strangely Written Political Survey…

You can tell by how the questions are worded that the person who composed this survey is a little religious. Since I am not religious… this makes filling out this survey rather fun. Feel freel to steal this and fill it out yourself. Leave a note if you do take this survey cause I’d love to read your answers…

Peter

1) Is Abortion Wrong?

Right off the bat… one of the biggies. No, I don’t think abortion is wrong but then again there are expections to every rule. I think of the baby is like 70%-90% through it’s term, a C-Section would be less harmful to the mother than an abortion would. I really don’t think the procedure should be used as birth control though as constant use could lead to permanent damage to women. I don’t there should be an ourtight ban on this, because there are times when the procedure is necessary to save the live of the mother to be. Like I said before, there are execptions, but this should be considered a last resort.

2) Is Birth Control Wrong?

Speaking of birth control… here is a way to prevent all these abortions from happening in the first place. It’s funny that people are dead set against abortion, and then also protest against the contraceptives that could prevent them from occurring in the first place! This kind of hypcorisy is just mind boggling. If you disaprove of aboriton, then to disaproval of something that would prevent all these abortions from occurring in the first place is just insane. So since I’m not too fond of abortion, I fully support the use of birth control.

3) Do Animals Have Rights?

Yes, they have the right to look good beside my mashed potatoes.

Seriously, a good way to explain my position would be to to tell you the exact same thing I tell Leah when eating Shark. Usually I love to fry up a steak and make sandwiches out of it. Great stuff and it’s low in fat too. I tell her that I’m merely partaking in the same thing all other animals do. I mean if I was in the water swimming around and minding my own P’s and Q’s… and that shark happened to be there. If that bugger was hungry, he wouldn’t hesitate to take a bite and chew me out… literally. It’s just nature and the way it works. While we eat animals, there are many out there (bears, lions and mostly sharks) who would love to take a bite out of us. It’s the food chain and we’re all a part of it… so I’m not going to let someone make me feel bad for taking part in it.

4) Is Drinking Alcohol Wrong?

Not when done in moderation. There’s nothing wrong with a few glasses of wine to go with supper or for a brandy with the guys when playing poker. But to get trashed for the sake of getting trashed is a waste and a bit excessive.

5) Is Having a Tattoo Wrong?

I personally don’t like it, but who am I to question those who dig getting painted?

6) Is Having a Body Piercing Wrong?

Same as the pervious answer. I personally would never do something like that but I have no place to diss or tell others what to do with their bodies when it comes to cosmetics. If they think it looks good, more power to them. Just not my cup of tea…

7) Is Celebrating Somebody’s Birthday Wrong?

Only if they have a problem with it. I don’t know anyone who hates to celebrate their birthday, but if they do… give him/her their space to mark the moment in their own way.

8) Is Homosexuality/Bisexuality Wrong?

I don’t think so. I don’t think it’s fair to tell someone they are wrong for simply being in love with another person. I mean there are worse things in the world we should be fighting against such as voilence, rape, murder and genocide. The last thing we need to do is disapprove of two people (regardless of gender or race) from having a loving, consentual relationship. This sets a bad standard…

9) Is the Death Penalty Wrong?

If someone is truely pro-live… they should be against the death penalty. I personally think that in some cases its necessary… but if there are holes and innocent people are being put to death, we should do away with it.

10) Is it Ever Okay to Tell a Lie?

Yes, there are times when it’s okay to like. In poker, we call it bluffing. While some lies are meant to protect someone, the ones made to deceive and hurt people are wrong.

11) Is Corporal Punishment for Criminals Wrong?

Depends on the crime, but then again corporal punishment is not allowed in Canada anymore. Being in prison and being someone’s bitch is bad enough… I don’t think whippings would make a difference.

12) Is Spanking Children Wrong?

There have been times when I’ve been tempted to spank Ethan, but I personally believe that physical punishment sets a bad standard. I prefer to use non-voilent means to discipline my child and I think so far it’s working. Anyone who uses violence to solve childcare problems is lazy, and the hard work of timeouts and talking about problems gets better results.

13) Should Corporal Punishment be Allowed in Schools?

No. And this comes from actually witnessing the results of such a measure. Striking a child in a school envoriment doesn’t solve anything and only instills a sense of fear in a place that doesn’t make for a good learning environment. Hitting a child doesn’t create a good atmosphere for the child and the teacher and for this reason, I don’t think corporal punishment allowed in the classroom. It’s outlawed here in Canada and for good reason.

14) Is it Wrong to Skip Church Occasionally if You Dont Feel Like Going?

I skip church all the time, and for good reason. I don’t believe in religion or a higher being for that matter… and for that reason I use my Sundays for better things like spening quality time with family and re-arranging my sock drawer.

15) Should Christians Teach Their Children About Santa Claus?

If they want to. What stories Christians/Muslims/Buddists tell their kids is up to them. There is no more truth to religious stories then there are to Santa Claus… so telling one more lie wouldn’t hurt, eh?

The cool part is that when I tell Ethan and Jonathan about a big, fat dude with a white beard that gives them presents every year… I won’t be lying. His name is Grandpa and he lives in Tennessee.

16) Should People Read/Study The Bible Regularly?

Nope. I read it and other religious texts when studying them at college, and the more I read… the less credible I found them. The question to the people who claim to read it, have you read all of it? The book is actually quite disturbing, not to mention sexist, racist and homophobic… making it the last thing I would use to teach morals to a child or anyone for that matter.

17) Is Female Church Leadership Always Wrong?

Why would it be wrong in the first place? This is the ‘sexism’ I was referring to in the previous answer. If a person is the most qualified for the leadership role… I truely believe they should be given the job and not discrimiated because of their race, gender or lifestyle. Just to ask this question is asburd because a femaleshould always be allowed to lead if they are the most qualified to do so.

18) Should Non-Traditional Music Be Allowed in Church?

Okay, these questions are getting a tad dumb. I guess playing Marilyn Manson’s ‘Beautful People’ during mass would be a tad off the wall… so I guess not.

19) Is The Theory of Evolution Wrong?

I don’t think so. Unlike religious mythology, there is at least evideince to support the theory of evoultion. Thousands of fossils and other facinitating pieces at least back up the idea, which is more than what I can say for organized religion.

20) Should The Theory of Evolution be Taught in Schools?

Of course it should. It’s a sound teaching that actually benefits mankind so it deserves a place in the classroom.

21) Is Sex Before Marriage Wrong?

If the sex in consentual and legal, who cares?

22) Is Un-chaperoned Dating Wrong?

Nope, would you want your date chaperoned?

23) Is Divorce For Reasons Other Than Adultery Wrong?

Ummm… if someone is convicted of murder or possibly committed for being insane… you might have grounds to get one. Limiting to just one reason is absurd.

24) Should Divorced People be Allowed to Remarry?

If someone wants to take a second kick at the happiness can, who are we to stop them?

25) Should Women Always Wear Traditionally Feminine Clothes?

I think the person who wrote this needs to wake up and smell the 21st Century…

26) Should Women be Submissive in Marriage?

I must re-emphasize this writer’s need to wake up and actually acknowledge reality.

27) Is it Wrong For Mothers to Work Outside of Home?

Not really. In today’s society, a double income is needed just to make ends meet for many families. Wanting to survive comfortably is not a crime…

28) Should Women Primarily be Homemakers?

Not if they don’t want to be. I think if someone (regardless of gender) wants to stay home and be a homemaker, that is a very kind and honorable thing to do… but I disapprove of expecting a specific gender to do it all the time.

29) Can Watching Television be Damaging to children?

Depends on what they are watching, and how parents react to them watching it. I keep telling people that I will let Ethan and Jonathan watch anything they want the minute they stop looking at everything is real and start asking how the filmmakers make it look so real. The minute my kids acknowledge entertainment is fake theatre for their entertainment is when I will trust them with the bigger and more interesting stuff.

30) Is Euthanasia Wrong?

If a dog named fluffy was run down by a car and slowly suffering a painful death in the middle of the driveway… some would say shooting it would be humane cause allowing someone to suffer is not. Why does fluffy get more rights than we do?

31) Is Suicide Wrong?

Depends on the situation. If someone is dying of cancer and volunteers to do a secret ‘suicide mission’ for the military, would that be considered wrong? What about the above answer when someone is in incredible pain and is suffering, would that be wrong to terminate their life to ease their pain? There are expections to every rule, even suicide.

32) Is Gambling Always Wrong?

Nope. A friendly game of poker with the guys is not wrong. Especially if it’s strip poker with some hot women at the table. I don’t think penny slots at the casino are evil, but everything as always there is such a thing as moderation.

33) Is Halloween Wrong?

While I think it’s a cute day for kids… the candy they’re bringing in is atrocious. I would limit how much the kids ate after they went out. But I think costumes are fun and the kids love it… so who am I to argue against it?

34) Is Gossiping Always Wrong?

That depends on the subject. People do have the right to privacy so I can see where gossiping can be bad… but there is a line that needs to be respected.

35) Is Nakedness Always Wrong?

I wouldn’t say it’s always wrong. Does the loser who wrote this up take a shower with a bathing suit on? I mean how lame is this question? Of course it’s not always wrong… just depends on the situation.

36) Is Pornography Always Wrong?

Again, I hate to beat this moderation theme into the ground… but all things are good as long as they are not abused. I think the author of this survey needs to have that pounded into their thick skull.

37) Is Society Getting More Immoral?

Not really, if anything a large portion of it is doing better and realizing that we can’t remain isolated from one another. We are one world and are slowly starting to act like it. Well, most of us are.

I think almost anything can be wrong when the motivation is wrong. I fully support a woman’s right to choose but I look down on a woman who is irresponsible about using protection and repeatedly has abortions. I knew a woamn who had 3 such abortions and I think it was wrong. I think sexually active people should act responsibly.

I agree, surveys are the best when saying anything else becomes hard! So, I have to steal this one! 🙂 It’s great and I agree with many of your answers.

Is this survey wrong? 😉

re: #19- When I visited the La Brea Tar Pits last October, they had pulled over five million fossils out of that small area, and were still digging them up, so your mention of the “thousands” is off by much more than a full magnitude. People who choose to ignore fossil evidence to believe in a book of short stories written as much as a full thousand years after the events described are nuts

February 13, 2006

Ahh, that sounded harsh. I was trying to fit the note into a rapidly swindling character limit. “Nuts” is too subjective. Self-delusional is the word I was originally going to use, but even that is harsh. Let’s jsut say that it’s unrealistic to ignore physical proof in order to prop up a belief system.

Dude, penny slots are very evil!!

February 14, 2006

I like your answer to number 8. Now if only the rest of the world would understand that.

February 14, 2006

Hell I take that back, I like all your answers!!

Consider this yanked.

February 15, 2006

I have stolen you survey.

“I’m merely partaking in the same thing all other animals do.” Do you hunt for your own meat? I doubt it. Most people get their prepackaged, hormone infested meat from supermarkets. This practice can hardly be described as natural. Furthermore, other animals don’t have the choice to go the super stop and shop and buy vegetarian food but we do. This is just a terrible excuse for eating meat.

I adore your answers : ) I took this quiz awhile back, feel free to visit my diary and read it!
