Post-party report and a new hobby…

Friday’s Christmas party wasn’t all that, but then again Leah and I never had a chance to take it all in. Leah wasn’t able to drink (which was a real bummer for her) and because I had to work the next day I couldn’t go all out myself… so it wasn’t as fun a night as it could have been. I met up with a few co-workers and introduced them to my better half, and that was fun… but overall it was a bust. Perhaps next year if we can find a babysitter for both kids we’ll to all out next time. Yet it was not to be this year, and I can honestly say that I had more fun at the Kids party than I did at the adults… at least with the kids party we got to watch a movie and get gifts. At the other party we paid a mint to get in and nothing in there was free… what a rip. So that was the party… nothing special to report.

Leah wasn’t too impressed either but we have bigger fish to fry as our booked C-Section is only eight days away. I’m excited to be a new Dad again but Leah and I are going to have a tough time adjusting to the new settings. We’re trying to move stuff in for the new baby and we’re beginning to learn how small our appartment really is. We need to find something bigger, or the cramped space where we are now is eventually going to drive us insane. Chances are I just might also have to toss out some crap that I have in the storage room and make space for the new stuff coming in. I hate to part with anything, but eventually I’ll have to buckle down and start tossing some crap out.

It’s great to have Mom here, but there have been a few moments that we’ve butted heads. We’re both strong willed people so it was only a matter of when, not if. We both have our own views of everything and while we’re going to conflict a bit every now and then, her effort and help she has provided is greatly appreciated… even if I have a very fucked up way in showing it. No one has died yet, so the visit has been going well so far. She’s getting along great when the little one and I can tell Ethan likes have Grandma around… so it’s great to have her here. I like the fact that someone is home to be there for Leah incase she pops while I’m busy taking calls at the center. You can’t put a price on piece of mind like that… and for that I am sincerely grateful cause it makes my days easier, especially the tough ones.

Another cool thing is that one of my Brothers-in-law came by to visit last night. We ordered pizza and had him over for supper which was cool cause I don’t get to see him much. His son (also Leah’s godson) also had a birthday recently, so I went out of my way to make sure we had something. The little guy (7 years old) has an X-Box so I took the time to get him a few sports game at the local game shop. They were cheap but great EA sports games so I think the little guy will love them. Leah asked me why I had only bought sports games, and I slyly responded “I don’t think he’s ready for Grand Theft Auto or Splinter Cell just yet, dear.” I had ordered games based on rating, which for these games are rated E for everyone. Leah originally wanted to get him a sweater, and I told her not to be that person. I’m sure he’s getting plenty from the rest of the family and wanted to be the cool Aunt & Uncle who bought him new video games. So I passed the games over to my Bro-In-Law last night, and he seemed to really apprecaite them. I can’t wait to hear how the little guy reacted to them…

Speaking of extra-caricular activities… without giving many details away, I want to let everyone know that I’m working on a new hobby. I’ve only just started lessons… and while it looks like I’m picking it up really well, I’m not going to brag about it just yet till I get the hang of it. It’s a constructive hobby and one that I can do while waiting for calls at work. I’m excited about the idea of having something useful to do between calls and am actually excited about this project. It’s only in the beta phase, so I’ll keep everyone up to speed when things are going a little better. But it’s been fun so far and I’m dying for Lesson #2. And no, that is all the info I’m willing to divulge for now.

So that’s been my weekend so far. I hope everyone else is doing all right and since things are dead at the center today, I might take the time to leave a few friendly notes but make no guarentees. Until then, have a good one!

Peter
