My lean, mean, dancing machine…

During our wedding reception, Leah took it upon herself to dance with everyone at lease once to show her appreciation for everyone who took the time to be there to celebrate our special day. I’m not exaggerating either, she spent pretty much 90% of our reception on the dance floor and I only got to dance with her twice during that time. She was full of energy and pretty much high on life and having a good time. Because of this, she earned her family nic name. Everyone earns one sooner or later, and for Leah it was sooner as everyone took it upon themselves to label her ‘The Dancing Machine’, which to them was a well earned title.

This week we found out that Leah has strong competition for her title. Ethan proved to us that he didn’t fall to far from the dancing machine tree as he really knows how to cut a rug and loves to groove to a favorite song. My Mom didn’t beleive us when we told her about it last week, but saw with her own eyes how much he could move when you put the right song on for him. One of Ethan’s favorite shows on TV right now is a little thing called “Lazytown” which has a lot of songs that he enjoys. There is one song they play at the end of every episode title “Bing Bang” and every time that song is played, Ethan jumps up and dances his little ass off as if his life depended on it. Eager to see what kind of music the little guy was into, I decided to put the MP3 player on random and see what songs seemed to get the little guy back on his feet and moving around.

So far, the following songs has resulted in the little pitter patter of Ethan’s feet:

– When It’s Over (Sugar Ray)

– It’s Friday, I’m In Love (The Cure)

– Macho Man (The Village People)

– Rebel, Rebel (David Bowie)

– Footloose (Kenny Loggins)

– It Wasn’t Me (Shaggy)

– Just Lose It (Eminem)

– Pop Goes The World (Men Without Hats)

– Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (Wham!)

– Sexbomb (Tom Jones)

– Cherry, Cherry (Neil Diamond)

So we’ve tried a wide variety of music, and he’s reacted positively to a few. Leah loves to watch him dance around and the plan is to capture it on tape for the future embarassment. Something to show his fiance when he brings her home to meet us… along with his naked bath baby pics. I know… I’m terrible, but that’s the fun part of being a parent. After seeing him dance around, my Mom is making jokes saying that Ethan might want to be at the wedding reception in March after all since he’ll be dancing around as much as his Mom. We’ll have to see about that, since even during the wedding in TO, he’ll still be going to bed at his normal time just to keep the routine in place.

So I thought I would share that cute little nugget of info with you. If I get anything on video, I just might share the mpeg with a few friends. Feel free to leave an email below if you want ot check it out. Until then, I hope everyone is having a great week and I’ll be around…

Peter

It’s one thing to expose him to The Village People or Wham!, but Eminem? Eminem’s view of the world makes George Bush look humanitarian.

OK, time for hardball: see if he can stay on his feet and dance for the entirety of the 17-min long In a Gada da Vida by ron Butterfly. šŸ™‚
