Update on Miko: Good News!!

This has been the best $1,000.00 I have ever been forced to come up with.

Just got good news on Miko!  He went to see the cardiologist this morning and had his echocardiograms done.
 
Here’s the report as I remember it.  I will get the full report sent to me via email on Thursday and will post it here.  
 

I am crying I am so damned relieved.  The echocardiogram shows that a flap in Miko’s heart has basically broken some cartilage, but not even half-way through.  Essentially this flap has blood flow between the 2 main heart chambers – what’s happening is the blood is flowing backwards in Miko.  (Oddly enough?  This is the same damned heart thing Brian was diagnosed with after his seizure last year!!!  Referred to as "Teddy Bruschi symdrome" in people.)  With Brian it’s a birth defect.  Any way…with Miko it’s the very beginning stages of CHF!  Cardiologist said he has dogs with more damage than Miko and they’re still alive 6 years later and just have to take Lasix.  He has really good heart rhythm, and that has not decreased at all. 
 
Last week Miko’s liver was enlarged…that has already subsided and is almost back to normal size, just based on the medications he’s been taking and the care he’s being given.
 
His kidneys, lungs, and all other areas are perfectly normal.  He does have fluid on the lungs but not much now.  His lack of appetite is because of the antibiotic which can cause a decrease in appetite.  They want him off the antibiotic for the next couple of days.  Doc said because we’re, well, spoiling him by babying him and giving him different foods he’s basically playing us to get what he wants.  (Can’t help it but I am LMAO!  My spoiled little monkey strikes again!!!!)  Uhm…his blood pressure is 110/80 which is perfect and his temperature is also perfect. 
 
I am so flipping relieved!!!!!  So relieved.  Doctor did give us some more prescriptions for him, one being a cough suppressant with codeine.  Doctor agreed with me the constant honking is not good because he’s not getting any rest and his throat is sore which also makes him not want to eat.
 
YAY!!!  Thanks so much everyone, for your good luck wishes!!!!  Looks like my first baby is going to be okay and we caught this way early and with meds (which aren’t all that expensive) he can live for a good many years to come.
 
HALLA-FREAKING-LUJIAH!!!  Maybe my luck is finally turning back on the upswing!!!
