American Idol: As I Heard It! (Wish I didn’t)

I love Quentin, and he’s so good at this.

Allison I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing — Great song and she sang it well.  Ok, she’s no Steven Tyler, but it was enjoyable.  It’s pitched so low though, it makes me miss some of those higher notes Tyler hit that I think were notable about the song.

Anoop Everything I Do — I almost like this, but I think perhaps some of Quentin’s advice threw him a bit in the beginning.  This was probably his best performance so far though — he sang it stronger, with more conviction.  Maybe Quentin should be his manager/producer.

Adam Born to Be Wild — Ok, when he gets all wild like that, I don’t care for him.  I think it detracts from the song.  Is it just me?  Oh, thank you, Simon — for agreeing with me.

Matt Have You Ever Loved a Woman — I like this song and it was kind of ok until he lost the melody, and there were other funky notes here and there.  This song doesn’t really showcase the voice in any special way — I’m surprised he chose it.

Danny Endless Love — Oy.  I didn’t care for this either.  Aren’t there better songs these folks could pick?  Good lord, can it be that Anoop is on top tonight?  Come on Danny!!!  You can’t be letting go this early!!!

Kris Falling Slowly — Don’t think I know this song.  Nice song, and very well sung.  Ok, he’s ahead of the pack tonight.  A very nice performance.  Adam better watch his Ps & Qs.

Now I’m getting nervous for poor falling-apart Lil . . . .

Lil The Rose — What a mess.  Poor girl, she should be out of there tomorrow.  It seems every choice she makes is wrong — so many funky notes.  Where was the melody?  She could have sung a simple, powerful version of this song.  It was just a mess.  TiVo cut off at the beginning of Paula’s comments so I don’t know what she or Simon said, but I’m sure he must have hated it.

I’m so glad it’s only an hour now.

My bottom 3 — Lil, Lil and Lil.  Oops, o’kay, can’t do that?  Fine: Lil, Matt and Kris.

So what did you all think?

Lil has a nice, strong voice and no idea how to use it properly.

Have you watched the Susan Boyle clip on YouTube? WOW!!
