holiday update

Hey OD Friends!

Just ducking in to wish you all BEST WISHES in 2008 and a belated Very Happy Christmas!

We have had a very wonderful holiday…. the NewlyWeds (NW hereafter) agreed to let us fly them here for an entire week. And also drag them all over Dallas/FtWorth for 36 hours seeing all of our extended family for the weekend before Christmas.

The group of us (us SIX now) did what Hubby and I had to do for many of our early years — visiting ALL the relatives one generation above Hubby and me — BUT in a way that none of them (our relatives) had to (in the same vane as food on a plate) touch each other… (except for Hubby’s dad who gathered with us at my Mom’s house… thank-you Mac!) … of course, this is a bit related to the fact that he broke up with his girlfriend a few weeks ago… he decided to reveal this to me (and to his cousin S who was also included) at my Mom’s house while Hubby and my kiddos and niece were all playing a Spades tournament (where I would have liked to have been) while I was left to chat with … well never mind… as it turns out I GOT THE SCOOP!

Anyway, we have enjoyed the company of my married daughter and her hubby (the NW’s) with our college son and our Youngest, who is 18 years old and living at home for her final year of public school with only the vaguest of plans for next year so far…

Hubby and I agreed to be LAX and ADJUSTABLE for the duration of this trip, and our plan worked… we have all had a wonderful visit.

So… this evening FB got online to print their boarding passes for tomorrow. FB has not yet changed her name, so she and her Hubby were traveling home in seats next to each other with different last names. Plus, she had not checked in at any reasonable hour as we all went to a local comedy club tonight to see Alonzo Bodden. Well, apparently someone hacked into her airline account, SEPARATED her reservation from her hubby’s, and checked in as her hubby already. We all feel pissed and violated. So after talking to a reservation gal on the phone tonight, it appears that the NWs need to show up at the airport nice and early tomorrow and hopefully get this hacker in some sort of trouble.

I will let you know how it goes…

Yikes on the hacker! ryn: I have a ‘normal’ washing machine. It’s just a front-loader. VERY energy-and-water efficient, but you can’t stop it mid-cycle and check on things that are being washed, and you sort of need to do that when felting (unless you’re very sure of yourself). Actually, my front-loader does bigger loads than my old top-loader did, AND gets them drier in the spin-cycle so that they’re almost dry before going into the dryer for a very abbreviated dryer-cycle.

ryn’s: I used to have a cat named Lucky, but she did not write the list of resolutions. And I do not flirt with my ex because even if his marriage is falling apart, I respect it, so I just nurture him as best I can as a friend. In the meantime, I am practicing flirting with any man who crosses my path ( because I am old and out of practice, and flirting is a skill)

lol I swear I have never been known as Lucky ever…seriously…lol Am I that much like her??? wow, poor woman…

rofl@off the hook for now…lol
