3½ things (all good)

FB has been home from college this week. Chose differently than some Spring Breakers for her sophomore break. Wanted a quiet week. Had tons of homework to catch up on. Great since Youngest was off to a ski trip in Colorado with the youth group from our church. MiddleSon left with a trusted family on an annual beach-house-weekend in a Texas Spring Break hot spot: South Padre Island. As I type this I realize that I have not offered her enough this week, even as I came here to tell you about two special moments…

brb…

oh my gracious! it was great and bad. I found FB on the phone with her boyfriend (separated all week) and I said I wanted to make it right and us all go to whichever church service would make it easier on her.. which was “early”, but she conceded that she wanted to do what would make me happy (which was us all go to church together), so I said I would tell MiddleSon and she said “I’ll tell Youngest, ’cause she’s harder…” I escaped with my life, let me tell you, FB is still up there arguing with Youngest, as MS wasn’t happy, but began banging hard with his fingers on his alarm to set a new time…

back to the things I meant to tell you about!

1.) FB “home alone” this week (unusual as a college sophomore) she got her friend to talk us into bringing our doggies to the new community dog park. FB and I met our “other” daughter and her young Basset hound, another high school friend of FB’s with her dog, with our 7-yr old white lab and our 15.25 year old Basset hound. We all had a marvelous time! I brought balls and water, but as it turned out these things were provided. (Along with very handy and easy to use doggie scoop baggies!)

2.) I took FB for lunch at a fabulous Spanish restaurant Hubby and I have discovered in Houston. It was perfect outside weather, so we enjoyed sitting outside, as well as observing the other “outside” guests. My favorite was the perfectly chic gals late lunching together who ordered the fancy dessert (cotton candy – choice of color – in a giant martini glass, with a sparkler on top, no less…) and snacked on this while sipping wine ENTIRELY WHILE TALKING ON THE CELL PHONE!!!!! At one point I observed, “look, they are off the phone”… but NO they had only handed it to the gentleman who had been lunching at the table next to theirs with his date… he talked for a bit and passed the phone back to its owner…

1/2) (only because I am not giving you the playlist…) My annual ladies’ beach weekend is upon us, and this year I got inspired and asked for ONE SONG from each friend, which I propose to get by Napster or my own collection and compile a “beach weekend cd” for all of us with one special song picked out by each of us. I had no idea how great this idea was until I started asking for the songs! Now I have such an amazing (and eclectic) selection, that I am determined to get a song from the three who have not given one (out of 11) participants!
