My Raffers
My Raffers
There is no strong and constant pain
since you’re gone,
maybe because I took the journey with you
and witnessed your dignity.
You weren’t taken from me in the
still of the night;
rather you went bravely and at your own pace.
You shared your strength with me.
You took each step with purpose
as though moving steadily toward
the warmth and comfort of the hearth
when I called you from the rain.
You locked your eyes and soul into mine
and they spoke to me saying
See this beauty and don’t be afraid…
the road is familiar to me.
It will return me to the place
where I met my eternal love.
The place from which I traveled to come to you
and take my place beside the one you had already embraced.
This road will take me home to her.
I understood and was not afraid.
Remembering our first chance meeting
I see now that it was part of your plan
with full design and purpose.
How else could you have come to me?
I would have never gone in search of you
not knowing of the future.
No, that was left to you…and how
magnificently you pulled it off.
You’re reason for existing in this here and now
ceased to be awhile ago…but
you stayed long enough to share the sharpest of the pain
and remain my companion as the healing began.
I’m so glad for the dance and for knowing
that all loves do not have to be overpowering.
Sweet and steady love is a grand gift and
leaves a wistful longing in its wake.
I love you my kind and blessed friend
How dear your friend and how blessed you both were to share so profoundly. I was pleased to see your name here, glad you came to visit. I wish you sweet and steady healing as you move toward this new stage of your life. Be well.
