In My Own Backyard
Maple in the Pine Grove
I opened my eyes this morning and smiled realizing it was Saturday and I could choose to do something productive or not. My first choice was a good strong pot of coffee. George and Ralph were still sleeping as Chelsea Mai and I made our way downstairs to the kitchen where she quickly made her way to her favorite corner and plopped down raising her face to me saying she wanted her bankie please. I quickly covered her and washed up a few dishes while inhaling the wonderful aroma of freshly brewing coffee.
Well darn! Looks like no sun today – nothing’s ever going to bloom at this rate. Snatching my first cup as the last drop dropped, I headed out the front door as Chelsea snuggled deeper into her nest. I headed right back in and grabbed a jacket (such a vision in my lavender nightshirt to my knees, black sweats, birkenstocks, polarfleece jacket, uncombed hair…shall I go on?).
As I strolled around my yard, I found that spring has been springing in spite of the chill in the air and numerous sunless days. Nature quietly goes about her business quite unaffected by the moodswings of the universe…
Come on – grab a cup of coffee (and a jacket) and I’ll show you what I found.

So here I am back snug in the house and contented to know that all things happen in their own good time no matter my impatience and occasional doubts – they just do. It always happens that I learn a good lesson when I am alone outside.
I’m sure the newness will wear off my new camera soon and I won’t post a gallery everytime I write, but I’m having so much fun with it and I like letting you see “…a bit of my world…” as fim puts it!!
I’ll be stopping by this week-end to catch up on all that’s blooming in your world!! I’m very behind. Happy week-end!!!!!
🙂 Like a kid with a new toy. Hugs.

Thanks for sharing all your pictures! I love Bleeding Heart plants, we had them in my back yard when I was little and I associate them with being about 4 years old. 🙂 Keep sharing!!

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I want a digital camera SO badly. I also enjoyed your description of your trek around your yard – including your outfit!

The photos are lovely, P! So glad you are enjoying your new camera. Mine seems to travel with me almost everywhere. Your sundial shows what an optimist you are a heart here in the temperate rain forest.

All these wonderful photos! I’m starting to find myself lingering at digital camera counters. Thanks for the morning wander.

…and again I say, “the magic of flowers!” No kidding. From your eyes to my desktop–I’ve got those incredible red tulips opening every time I switch on now. I love all this. It’s like getting a bookful of picture postcards, with only the postmark missing. & I never even had to catch the ferry…although I’d like to…but neither did you, I guess, looking at what the camera saw in your backyard.

PS–Let me know when you get a digital Mr. Coffee. If you’re as good with it as you are with a camera, I’m ready for a strong cup. Boy, you make it sound addictively enjoyable. Oh, & please send ‘wonderful aroma’ per attachment. (By the way, loved the picture of you, too, even without a photo!) Thanks for the healthy dose of Spring Fever, patalija. I’ll add it to my own & feel better right away!

I transplanted a couple of Iberis myself yesterday, but mine aren’t blooming. I forgot how lovely they look when they form their snow-white carpet in spring… wish spring would visit here! I love your description of your fashion apparel. I like living where one doesn’t need drapes for privacy (R-value here) and the neighbours speak ‘scat’, or squirrel or whatever they call it. 🙂

You mean you don’t move your sun dial to keep up with the times?! You just aren’t “trying” p! hehehe You can visit with me anytime, but you have to bake your own muffins! I do have garlic in the garden for spring garlic shoots to make a big Spanish omelet though. … and I might even get a pair of emus for omega-3 rich eggs, and weird looking friends. I prefer friends with character. 🙂

Hugs, and thanks for the notes. I work in a tow yard, back to work I should say. To move cars around easily in a tow yard is usually done by a forklift. I need lessons. 🙂

Oh – so sad that you the pictures are not still posted! I would love to see your garden, as much as I love sharing mine. Unfortunate thing is I know of few people who delight in my plants as much as I do. Glad to met another. . .
