I’m in Takaka (fun to say because the emphasis is on the ‘Ta’ – try it out…) and it’s pissing down rain. That could suck, but it’s decently warm out and I’ve decided to embrace the rain as a part of the ambiance of the rainforest (which this most decidedly is) and call it good. I’m staying at a “hostel” that’s nicer than any hotel, hostel, backpackers, or retreat center that I’ve ever stayed in. My bed is large and fluffy, I have a balcony overlooking the spectacular gardens, brekky is free and so is the internet. Hardwood floors, stained glass windows and sweet old people for hosts don’t hurt, either. I never want to leave, but the price is steep (lol… and by steep I mean $25 USD/night… sounds ridiculous but I’ve been paying about $10 – $15) so I’ll be moving on in a few days.
The loneliness still comes and goes. I masturbate a lot, thinking about Robin the entire time, like if I get my body back into that state of sex/love-making maybe he’ll just appear between my legs and everything will be good again. Cool, right? Not very cool.
I sewed patches into my jeans today! Apparently being a world traveller has turned me into quite the resourceful young lady! When you only have two pairs of pants and enough money to last you through April without working, sewing is key.
I’m going to visit Steve, the man who invited me to Fiji in a week or so… I don’t want to give him any weird ideas about being attracted to him so that’s a balance. I am pretty naturally flirty with people and that’s not the best thing ever. Something to work on, I guess.
Well, looks like there’s not much exciting to report. I did see a penguin on the beach yesterday. I didn’t even know there were penguins in NZ until a few weeks ago. How frickin’ cool is that?!

Your “hostel” sounds amazing. I can’t believe you can stay other places for 10$ a night though. That would NEVER happen here. How freaking cool to see a penguin! I hope you took pictures and intend to post them soon!! Love always,
