obedience is critical when living off the land

Oh, holy hell, this has been the longest week ever. So much activity in a small amount of time. I’m proud of myself for not missing a single night of work AND moving all in one week.

I mean, moving. You know how it is. You barely sleep for four days because there’s too much to do. Everything’s a mess but it’s so worth it in the end. TV and the internet go away and then you wake up like a man out of time. David Bowie is back? You there, boy! What day is this?

Urrrf.

I love this new apartment. Seriously. It’s infinitely better than where we just were. The fact that it’s on the bottom floor and over to the side of the property means that it has a low-to-the-ground hobbity-hole quality to it. When i look outside, all i see are trees… and not the fucking Section 8 property full of jobless bums staggering around looking for someone to grift. Upgrade.

It’s not perfect, of course. The floors have a lot of give and the showers are a bit weak, and my bathroom has these really weird four harsh light bulbs that make me feel like i’m in a punk rock club restroom. But overall, swank. Dude, i have TWO rooms now. One bedroom and one computer/drawing room. All mine.

The dogs are excited. They enjoy very much having a long hallway to run down and a sliding glass door to look out of, not to mention a waterbed to walk on. Imagine how cool that would be, to be a small dog running around on a waterbed. They are living that dream.

!!!

What the hell, i stopped by the old place this morning to look for something, and there’s some kind of leak going on in there. The carpet was totally soaked and was squishing under my feet. If we hadn’t moved out, we’d be having to move to another unit right now. Dude, FUCK that damp and moldy place. They need to demolish that building and just start over.

Ahh.

Tonight is my first night off in the new place. I did so much during the week that there’s really not much left to do. I think… it’s time to reorganize my needlessly massive CD collection. I have too many CD’s. Nobody needs this many GusGus albums. I was looking through the lot just now and realized how different things were in the CD era…

…when you’d take a risk and drop $16 on a disc because there was one song you liked, and you had to see if the rest of the album was just as good. “Forest for the Trees’ Dream is the coolest song ever! What other delights await me on the full album?”

Not to mention the random albums you’d only buy because they were only four bucks at a used CD place. “Melanie C’s solo album? The cover is nice. I bet the other Spice Girls were just holding her back.”

Or the singles you bought from albums you already owned because you had to have the b-sides. “I don’t even like Disposable Teens, but how else am i going to hear Astonishing Panorama of the End Times? You can tell from the title that this song is epic!”

Not to mention all the drunken impulse buys. Grand National. The Good, the Bad, and the Queen. Tom Middleton. Deep Forest. Danielle Brisebois. Venus Hum. D-12. E.S. Posthumus. Neon Genesis Evangelion soundtracks.

It all adds up to a LOT of CD’s.

I’m going to split them up between my two rooms. One room will house the old rap and rock that i no longer care to sully my hands with, and the other will contain all the mostly pop and electronic stuff i still like. Yeah.

Phew.

My boss might be the biggest shithead freak in the entire tri-state area. This week, he suddenly moved some employees around for no reason, on the basis that the master key ring at Manheim went missing and thus all employees there had to be moved, and others moved in to take their places…

…so he moved Mr. Robins to Manheim. Mr. Robins is an 81-year old man who shows up to work every day like clockwork, because he likes to talk to the Metro workers. He’s always said that if he was moved to another post, he’d quit. I’m not sure if he has yet.

Nilley the Obese Snitch was swapped with some girl at Omohundro. Nilley hates Omohundro and wants to come back here. The girl hates here and wants to go back to Omohundro. I always thought i’d celebrate if Nilley were to leave, but i actually feel sorry for the snitching bastard.

The rest of us are unaffected for now.

The thing is, those missing keys? Two employees swear that our boss came in one day and took the keys. Declared them missing the next day. Then put them back in their place once he was done moving people. WHAT THE FUCK. I really hope that someone is telling the office this. I hope Nilley and Robins and the girl are FIGHTING this bullshit.

Okay.

Fuck everything.

I still have unfinished drawings from last week, so this is the one night off where i won’t even think of drawing. I’m going to reorganize things. Play videogames. Chill. Do whatever. After this week, i’ve earned it.

You know, instead of covering my window and turning my bedroom into a lightless hole, i think i should buy one of those sleeping masks, the kind that rich women wear in cartoons when getting their “beauty sleep.”

Those actually exist, right?

dude, do you work in North Korea? I feel like there’s enough evil conspiracy shit going on with your job that you might actually work in North Korea. though that might be giving your employers too much credit. have you heard Bowie’s new single? I hate to say this, but it bored me so much I changed the station.

r: I never know if you’re being intentionally sarcastic or if you really think working conditions outside of your horrible little Book of Job sphere are magical.

Yes they do still exist and you should get one if you can’t take light when you sleep. I’m so happy for you guys that you’re all moved in and it’s better. Your brother moved with right? This entry seems….rather calm for you…lol.

Sleep masks are the shit and you can find them for like $10. I got one for this trip and it has SAVED me, it even has a pocket for the ear plugs it came with. I got it at REI, which is an outdoor store so they must not be only for rich women… You should take photos of the new place, or draw it, or something.

And thanks. Even if you don’t end up doing anything. Thanks for even trying or wanting to try. I really appreciate it.
