Hi, my name is Joe, named for my father and indirectly for my grandfather who’s first name was Edward and middle name Joseph. He never responded to Edward, only to Joe. Incidentally Edward is my middle name.
I have one brother, Dominik who is 3 years and 1 month to the day younger than me.
Technically had my mother’s first pregnancy not miscarried I would’ve been the middle child.
My heritage is 100% sicilian, as both of my parents were born and raised there. In our home we spoke both english and italian.
I spent most of my summers for my early years in Sicily, my parents taking both my brother and I there to see our family and visit our roots. My family is very important to me and keeping track of the family history is something which I am planning on recording starting in the new year.
On my left foot I have a webbed toe, and when my son was born he had the same webbed toe on his left foot. Also I have a birthmark on my body which my mother refers to as the "coffee mark" because she drank coffe while she was pregnant. Guess what? My son does too.
In school I played sports and did musicals. Lacrosse from 8th grade through my junior year of college. Concert chorus from 6th grade until senior year of high school. I am still friends with most of my concert chorus classmates simply by virtue of the bond.
I hate the stereotype of italians being mobsters and for the most part try to give wide berth to conversations regarding mafia and those stupid mafia war games. And yes The Sopranos annoys me as well.
I lost my viriginity at the age of fifteen to the cousin of one of the neighborhood girls. It was quick, I was nervous but I’m glad I got it over with. I so made up for it during my college years.
The entire drive to college my mother and I argued. She didn’t want me to go so far away and despite her arguing I know she was just trying to show her love for me.
I gained the majority of my sexual experience in college. I’m not insinuating that I was a man-whore but I’m not saying I wasn’t. I made sure that none of the girls were intoxicated in anyway because I really feel that any first times are ruined by alcohol. People should be sober and fully aware when they engage others in this way. Just my .02.
In 2000 I began dating a girl named Jennifer. Jennifer is a name that illicits thoughts of insanity, a black hole for time and money and the heart of my distrust for women.
I spent 3 years working in a locked down psychiatric unit performing the detail of orderly, maid and performed psychiatric evaluations for the admission process. April 2003 I was terminated for charges of roughing up a patient. I learned alot while working there, one of those things was you are the only one that has your back.
April 2003 I started working in the stone fabrication industry at my father’s shop. I grew up around stone so this all made sense. I thought everything was coming together finally until my father sold the business due to problems with his partner and in 2008 I got laid off, 3 months before my son was born.
My wife and I share the same birthday, she’s just a year ahead of me.
