Disaster averted and other stories

More pork sausages mom please?

So I was nearly hijacked.

Hijacked by my wife.

How? You may ask yourself as you stare at the dull sheen of the screen.

Well on her way home she made her usual "i’m on my way home" calls and in a bit of rambling she says she wants to go see James Taylor and in my mind there is blackness and confusion as I can’t put together who/what/where or how.

I make pilgrimmage to ye olde Google and link the name to all those easy listening songs.

Easy Listening!

Part of me whirred in confused frenzy at the concept that there was an infidel in the house. I mean the closest to easy listening I get is a power ballad from Slipknot and that is a stretch on it’s own.

I can’t have my wife polluting my child’s mind with things like James Taylor and Enya. He should be listening to Hendrix, Iron Butterfly, Tool and things of that genre. Anything psychedelic 60’s, 80’s and anything with an industrial edge in the progressive vein would be sane but easy listening.

Yikes.

Just another difference between my wife and I.

Anyhow it is with great fortune that this concert falls on a wednesday and in June and also the same day my parents get home from Italy so there will be an expectation to see them that evening.

Meanwhile on the other end of the country in mid July there will be a Neil Young concert which a friend asked if I’d like to go. My wife then tells me she’s having a girls night out that particular friday. For shits and giggles I mention this event and she just shot me the eye of death and with that I just retreated to the back deck to finish cooking my steak for tomorrow’s lunch at work.

Strike One.

This weekend was without consequence, we had weird weather with heavy wind which we were sure would preclude a storm but no. Even with the threat of a Tornado.

A Tornado on Long Island? To quote Spock    "Highly Improbable".

Today at work I finished off a bid I was working on only to hear back from the builder that we were missing the stone tile "I told Rick to bid out for tile supply & installation." My mind errupted like a volcano since I asked this very specific question and he said no.

Now when I walk in tomorrow morning I will have to hustle my ass off to get this done and hope to god I can get this thing priced out and bid before the day’s end. I’m not happy about it and Rick needs to get his ass in gear aand keep this information correct before he has me bid out a project of this scope again.

Otherwise the heat has subsided and we are enjoying a cool breeze.

Ok, time to go.

Ha, I feel ya..would’nt want my kid listening to ‘sail away’…but I DO like return to innocence..but I don’t think thats Enya. I know the heat is sort of a new thing for that part of the country..it weirds me out to hear what they think is hot when it routinely passes 105 here beginning in july.

At least it was a legend like James Taylor and not some schmuck like Michael McDonald. I mean really!
