Why are there no hammers when you need them?

So Nina just called and told me the latest drama about our upstate family. Namely how Rychelle’s mom who is in the hospital with kidney failure will need a better contingency plan in case she needs to go in an emergency. Now Rychelle has a brother Kevin.

Quick Factoid: Marge (Rychelle & Kevin’s mom) helped buy the house Kevin & his girlfriend Rebecca live in, and may in fact be paying for this house still.

Rychelle calls Kevin and tries to get together a plan and Kevin responds with "Well if I’m not involved with anything that night.."
He then cites that she is too involved in their mother’s business and that if she needs to discuss how to get up there with him she can call directly. She then mentions that the phone she has only accepts calls and that this was the best way to get the message across. Kevin then suggests that she take a bus up there.

Let me repeat: a bus.

Oh yeah, she’s your mom.

The dialogue is quick to degenerate into madness and it is without hesitation we believe (for some time now) as a whole that Rebecca is very controlling and coercing Kevin to make this decision.

I just don’t understand how you can do this to your mom when you live 10 minutes or less from where she lives.

Motherfucker, have you not heard obligation before devotions? Or do I have to crack your head open with a ballpeen hammer?

Now they belong to some church up there and go around telling people they’re married. they list themselves as married on their facebook and tell their church they’re married.

Quick Factoid: I grew up with her ex-husband and when she found out this fact as we sat at J & R steakhouse for her birthday dinner her eyes read with fear. The kind of fear which is elicited only when you are trying to hide something and don’t want to be found out.

I had to rein myself in tonight when she told me not to put some swift remark or quote about family and obligations.

How can people be this dumb?
