why is today so loooooong

I have had some bad luck with public transit lately.

*Monday as we all know, the second train I take was not in service and I got lost and had to battle a scary homeless person parade before I got to work.

*Yesterday one stop before mine the train started to LURCH. There was an intense burnt smell somewhat like the brakes burning up. The conductor had to tell people to stop pressing the emergency button. We lurched for about 10 minutes (go for a few seconds really slow and then stop abruptly sending old people and babies flying down the aisles … it happened once before their dumb asses decided to sit down!) and stopped at the station. I was scared we’d be stuck there and I would not be able to get my kids.

AFter a little while it restarted and we slowly put-putted down the tunnel taking triple the time to the next stop.

it stank to high heaven. I’m glad the damn thing didnt’ catch on fire.

*and then this afternoon!

I was walking to get my lunch (I opted for some cheap subway) and I’m almost to the other side of the street and a giant ass stupid mother fucking orange bus of DOOM came flying down the street and screeched on the brakes at the last second almost hitting me.

i swear to god I almost pee’d my pants. Some of those damn bus drivers are insane. I’ve seen it happen more than once that they run red lights and if the pedestrians had stepped off the sidewalk a split second sooner they’d have been completely pulvarized.

They need to stop being in such a damn hurry.

This day has seemed soooo long.

I swear.

There are maybe a third of the people here and it’s quiet and stupid.

Only one other person in my section.

I’m gonna try to sneak out 5 to 10 minutes earlier than normal.

I probably won’t be able to, but I can try.

Those few minutes can make the difference between a train that is 15 to 20 minutes earlier getting me home even sooner.

I’m so ready to be home.

I don’t really want to have to cook dinner and all of that, but whatever.

blah.

kill me.

oh wait, someone already tried *shakes fist at bus*

I love subway sammiches. Did you ever see the Always Sunny in PA when charlie and mac wrecked sweet dees car and she had to ride the bus? Or do you have no idea what I’m talking about?

That is scary about the bus almost hitting you. I know those drivers are supposed to be on schedule but it isn’t worth killing someone to do that. Just announce that you are going to the bathroom, make a face, then sneak out. ha!

Here we have logger trucks that drive crazy. I can’t tell you how many times one has flipped over at an intersection spewing logs all over the place. It’s scary as hell. Re: You and me both…. you and me both.

Does this ever happen to you- Every damn MTA bus, whether it’s the orange ones that almost ran you over or the red ones, you see are hauling ass down the street, but as soon as you get on one, that’s the one going 10MPH and is getting passed up by every bus behind it? I’m waiting for them to finish the rail over here on the Westside so that I can experience the fun of NOT having to travel by bus.
