I tripped on the stone plaza steps on the way in to work today. I had my hands in my coat pockets and couldn’t get them out in time to catch myself, but my elbows did a fine job keeping my face off the ground.

I’m getting a lot of reading done on the bus. I got some reading done during my workout yesterday too, but I didn’t work out today. My knees started hurting yesterday, so I think I’ll have to avoid the bikes for a while. I abused my knees playing sports, so I’m not too surprised I’m having problems. I’m going to have to work on memorizing a yoga or pilates routine for the days my knees are giving me trouble. I have no reason to push it and injure myself – that’s a quick way to getting discouraged. Giving yourself a deadline is the wrong way to motivate yourself to exercise. My goal is to just make it part of my life, to feel better about myself for doing more than sitting around watching tv and eating. (I am such a clutz. I just knocked over my water, but it didn’t spill.) I can no longer justify watching my health deteriorate while I’m able to do something about it.

Ouch! I hope your elbows are okay! Sounds like a painful way to catch yourself!
