a little aside from the England Pics

Since it’s a natural break between the London Pics and the Countryside Pics, and I am going to be internetless for a few nights, I’ll deviate from my England Trip Postings. And
post my favorite Christmas Songs Ever.

This is my Second Favorite Christmas Song:

And my very favorite all time Christmas Song EVER:

I hate country music. But I LOVE Robert Earl Keene. He is a total Gothic Southern Genius. Okay, White Trash Genius. Whatever. This song makes me SO HAPPY. This is where I’m from. Yes, some of us try to act like we’re not from here. But. We are. Totally. I’ve adored this song for like fifteen years. It’s not Christmas until I’ve listened to Merry Christmas From The Family like, five hundred times. And it has to be Robert Earl Keene. NOT the Dixie Chicks. Not that there’s anything wrong with the Dixie Chicks. But they are SO not Robert Earl Keene.

Hallelujah, everybody say cheese!

We of course don’t know exactly what we’re doing at Christmas. Being, oh, US. We are planning on going to Baker B’s, mom’s house, and Kim was coming too thanks to her annoying and insane sister who changed plans at the last minute and I’m not going into the whole DRAAAAAAAAAAAAMA! other than to say Kim was coming down to M’ton to spend it with us. And Baker B’s Extensive Family. But now there’s like eight inches of snow in the forecast. So she may be backing out.

I am now on my third set of Charleston Reservations.

We made reservations for Wednesday (as in yesterday) and Thursday. As in today. I had to work Tuesday and wasn’t that sure about today until, oh, YESTERDAY, so we cancelled those. We also (at the same time) had reservations for Sunday (as in the day after Christmas) through Tuesday. Since we (as in the entire Eastern Seaboard) are having The Winter From Hell,we discovered to our horror that Charleston was supposed to have highs in the, oh, TWENTIES during that time frame. WTF???!!!???

WELL FINE.

So now we may be due a foot of snow, or we may be due an inch of snow. Or we may be due no snow at all!!!! Kim may come to M’ton or she may not. Baker B’s Colorado niece has come down with pneumonia. So she and the new baby and the husband will not be there. That is probably pretty final, unlike the weather. We are going down to M’ton tomorrow and we may stay till Sunday or we may come back Saturday. We now have the third set of Charleston reservation for New Years. Which, oddly, is only a few dollars more expensive than yesterday/today reservations. We keep clinging to these reservations because if we do not get out of this place we will LOSE.OUR.MINDS.

So basically we’re going to M’ton tomorrow, we do not know when we’ll be back; we’re going to Charleston sometime but who knows when. We are going to see Kim at some point but we do not know when that will be due to the weather.

AAAGGGHH!!!!

And now I must go to bed.

These are great! I heard it’s only going to be the inch, but who knows, because you have already had more snow this year than we have. Merry Christmas!

The songs were great and both prove the one thing that binds all of us together regardless of how we celebrate the holidays: We really can’t endure each other in close quarters for long without a little lubrication. Merry Christmas, Edna.

Ah, the holidays…it seems this year everyone’s plans are changing at the last minute, due to the weather, illness, the weather, work schedules, and oh, did I mention the weather? Today, thank goodness, it is sunny, although quite cold. Once inside you can pretend to be warm. Have a wonderful holiday, no matter where you end up!

Ugh. Good luck with the whole snow thing. I believe whatever you get is supposed to hit us the day after. Isn’t this summer weather patterns? Isn’t the cold supposed to come from the NORTH in the winter? Merry Christmas, come what may!

Oh, we’re getting “four to six inches” today, Christmas Eve. HA HA!!! I LOVE WINTER!!!!

Fun songs. Very complicated arrangements.Sorry it is all being so, um, uncertain. I am sure the cats are happy to have you home. OK, now you two have to watch Dr. Who. I’ve found Fran! From Black Books! Episode 7. It is like the source of all things good and right. I won’t say more. Except Merry Christmas To you and Baker B and Kim. And the cats of course.

Nice. Still think my favorite is the Pouges fairytale in Ny.

I guess it’s contagous. We finally got some actual winter weather-upper 20’s overnight and drizzly rain. Good thing we have a fireplace! Happy Yule, Merry Christmas, Welcome Back Sun!!
