dephmo 13- vacation

Which is very timely, as all my recent entries have involved pics from the Big England Vacation. No energy for another chapter in the travelogue tonight — much too tired from lying around doing nothing today. Snow, howling winds, a high of 12 degrees, more howling winds, and this will go on tomorrow as well. University has moved the pre-11:00 exams to… Thursday??? Some other day. I think tomorrow was supposed to be the last day. We were having our departmental Christmas party tomorrow and I was bringing dessert, so made Mississippi Mud cake and then got the call that it is also postponed till at least Wednesday. Just as well, cake was not that good. Too dry– maybe from cutting way back on the sugar? It seems like that happens a lot, and I always cut way back on the sugar. Baking is such a precise art and I am such an imprecise cook. So now I’ve also had way too much sugar.

Which is making me babble.

On to Vacation Pics. This will be very very random. Real entries are back that-a-way.

London. Best. Vacation. Ever.

And I haven’t even gotten to the countryside yet. The countryside was the Best. Vacation Ever!

Especially our hotel on a cliff overlooking the Bristol Bay towards Cardiff.

And Bath.

And Avebury.

And more white horses.

And Glastonbury

And of course Stonehenge. Yes, we were awash in the mysterious and ancient and breathtaking!

Okay. Think of this as a little preview of things to come.

now that is downright delightful! all but the howling wind.

Lovely to see the other places you went to. I’m looking forward to hearing about the canal bit.

I dragged the husband up to Glastonbury Tor last year and we were knackered when we got to the top (I was anyway, as I have to run up any hill I see…). Take care,

Well, I wish I’d had you along on my trip there. My photos were so disappointing when I got them developed. Please tell me you used a zoom lens for the photo of Stonehenge – I felt like I was squinting to see it! Dephmo – December photo month?

Glad you got your emergency heater back. I have decided no matter what we tell ourselves it is exhausting to be trapped when the weather is bad. We need to hibernate! Can we please recreate a couple of these places on our planet? Thank you.

I think cutting back on the sugar is generally a mistake. I find, too, that old baking powder isn’t always a great idea, either. Great pictures. I particularly like the one with the moving bus in the foreground. That’s a pretty cool effect.

I like that first picture … of the Brooklyn Bridge … I think!

RYN: I find it a little tough to believe that anybody could just wander into the same garden as the Queen of England! She gets as much security protection as the President! As for Snooki, she IS a fictional cgharacter. That is, there’s an acrtual bimbo there, but her public personal is manufactured and marketed.

I so enjoy your pictures and travel stories, I don’t want to tell you about southeast Texas or you may block me from your diary…….oh what the hell, we wore tee shirts today because it was back in the upper 70’s and the wind was quite gusty but warm. 🙂

Your pictures are amazing! It’s hard to believe it’s so green over there. And so gray here 🙁

Have I mentioned I am so jealous! Love the picture of the hotel looking over Bristol Bay.
