see ya

Well, I’ll be absent for… who knows how long. I talked to my brother last night and they really need some help. The SIL can’t take any time off because everyone in her office is out, and she doesn’t have a day off for two weeks. The two daughters and the nephew are taking turns being GrannySitters, but one has a little boy and one has like three jobs and is in summer school. The brother has nobody to help him out in his office other than whatever kid he can grab, and is also overrun with business – he’s an insurance adjuster. SO I’m going down tonight until… who knows when. Once Daddy is out of the hospital the problem of who is with Mama will be solved, and the brother, wife, and three kids all live right there so they can keep an eye on them if Daddy is still not feeling well. I’m hoping he’ll be feeling a lot better- they gave him a blood transfusion last night and he sounded a LOT better this morning. And he’ll be getting B12 shots. They’ve got to figure out why he’s anemic but maybe he won’t have to be in the hospital until they do. They live, literally, two minutes away. If that. You could walk down there in five or ten.

Anyhow. Just popping in fast to say thanks for all the nice notes and good thoughts, and I don’t know when I’ll be back. I was thinking, oh, I’ll just take my long phone cord and use dial-up while I’m there! Then remembered that, DUH, we switched to DSL so I no longer have Earthlink so I can’t use their Asheville dial-up number. Waaaaaaahhhh!!!! If I’m down there for long I’m making sure somebody spells me for a few hours now and then, though. Maybe I can hit Starbucks and take the computer.

At least I’ll have plenty of time to clean that nasty nasty house. Usually I just have time to vacuum and mop and dust and do the bills and maybe a litttle laundry. It seriously needs some heavy duty scrubbing, and I even went and bought some cleaning supplies at lunch. That will keep me busy. Maybe I can dig through some of the horrendous Paper Mountains in the "office", too.

Of course this is the WORST time possible, since Aggravation Receptionist is gone all week and Draaaaama Queen did drop by today, but with her sick kid in tow. Who proceeded to run all over my office grabbing everything she could grab with her germy little hands. I coated the entire office with germ-killer-spray as soon as she left. Nobody to keep the kid, and she’s still sick herself. I sure hope she’ll be here tomorrow, but the Ass’t Dean is helping out and New Guy isn’t the least bit rattled by all this and is grabbing the phones and answering the walk-ins like a pro. He’s catching on scarily fast. Which is a huge relief.

How about MORE Charleston pictures before I go!

Hopefully it will all work out. There is always the library if you really get desperate for OD.

You’re a wonderful sister and daughter. You should look into mobile broadband – it works fabulously and isn’t expensive. Worth it to stay connected! Gorgeous photos – I like the top one the most.

The old door at the bottom is my fav pic out of this bunch. It’s hell to stay with someone who doesn’t have a computer, isn’t it?

That’s a cool pyramid. Do people buried there die forever?

Oh, I hope all is going well. Hope you find Internet access so we don’t have to organize a car wash or bake sale to buy you a Blackberry or something! Cool pics.

i began a note and then had to cancel it. i wasn’t finished. anyway, be grateful that your work place is sympathetic to your needs and family obligations. i’m so sorry your dad is still in the hospital. i’m praying he’s on the mend and can continue to care for mom. i love the photos. does the first one imply the deceased was a jar head…pot head..mary kay rep? i’m sorry, that was really lame!!! take care of yourself too!

You will be in my thoughts. Hang in there.

Hope it all goes okay – don’t envy you a fortnight of scrubbing and mopping – hopefully your Dad will be on the mend soon and out in a few days – just enough time for you to get to nervous breakdown stage & resume sanity through OD!! Will keep fingers crossed for you!

I LOVE cemetary statues! So I’m morbid *shrugs* The headless one is great! Love the pyramid tomb too!

i’ve never seen a cemetary quite as cool as that one, but it’s always disturbing to me to see statues minus heads, arms, hands, etc.. who would do that in a cemetary? great shots.

Good grief! I guess your family will have to get together to figure out the care for your parents. Everyone is super busy these days. Ugh!
