this time tomorrow –

I’ll be in Charleston! I think it’s safe to say that we are heading out in the morning, despite that annoying tendency to change our minds at the very last minute. And go to, oh, Charleston West Virginia instead. We’ve been eyeing the weather after what happened last summer – what with Surprise Tropical Storm Barry murdering the engine and all – but it looks like there will just be a few thunderstorms over the weekend. And that just means more Bar Time.  Of course, that’s what the forecast said when in reality Barry hit – scattered thunderstorms. Not the torrential downpours and howling 50 mph winds and engine-killing lakes in the road that actually happened. It does sound like the only current storm is west of Mexico, though, so I believe we’re okay.

I was thinking, oh, I will NEVER have time to catch up with everyone!! I’ll be gone till Sunday!!! Then realized that, duh, we’ll have wireless at the motel. So I’ll have three nights of lounging about to catch up. We’ve been crazily busy at work because first session of summer school has ended and we had to get out letters to everyone who thinks they’re graduating in August but may not be. We needed to get them out in time for the deficient ones to register for second session if necessary, and  I managed to get all caught up today. Now it will be slower again till the second session ends.  And since a lot of them are cleared after first session, that’s a big hunk of the work done.

So tonight I’ve been packing madly. Like I’m leaving for six months instead of three nights. And trying to do a minimal amount of cleaning so the house isn’t quite as ghastly when we get back. That involved taking apart the vacuum and cleaning out the cat hair blockage. It’s amazing how much hair three cats generate, especially when one of them is Eddie, Fluffiest Cat Ever. And then I had to go out and buy shorts – I had NO shorts. No shorts that fit. I had a drawerful that are magically way too big. And I did have some that fit again that hadn’t fit in years, but …. well, they were a little out of fashion. They were those weird wide-legged clown-shorts ones. The kind you put on, look in the mirror, and go, "IIIIEEEEE!!!!!! I WORE those??!!!?? In PUBLIC????"

So it was either clown-shorts or go buy some new ones. I was a little shocked to find I had to buy 8’s – it was a good shock, believe me. And a whole lot better than having to go buy something to wear because I’m too fat for my clothes, which has certainly been the case more than a couple of times in the past.

And I am sitting here staring at the screen and about to keel over, so I better go to bed – we SAY we’re getting an early start tomorrow.

I can only catch up because I am on holidays. Have a wonderful time and I’ll pray that all tropical storms will be avoided.

Sounds like fun, I’m going to be a bigger dawg and not be jealous, I’m just going to go somewhere, maybe depot bay, and we’ll compare notes.

Have fun, do! So very cool about the new shorts. We had your tropical storm flooding thundershower downpour for you last night so you are good.

Bon Voyage. Have a fun, safe trip. Look forward to the pics. Congrats on the new, smaller, non-clown shorts!

WHOO!! Size 8!! My goal!! Safe journey. It must stink to be in summer school, and then find out you didn’t make the cut even after that. Be well.

Wow!! Sounds like a good time. I don’t have to buy shorts for years (unless I suddenly gain or lose a lot) because a friend cleaned out her dresser last year and I got a whole bunch. We’re not doing anything nearly as fun as you (as it certainly doesn’t require any packing). Have a great time!

safe week-end and no storms this time.

Hooray for the size EIGHT, and the lady who got there!!! I hope you have a great time on vacation!!
