brought to you by the letter B

I’ve seen this around forEVER and it seems like  time to join in on the fun. You use the first letter of your name to supply a word for each of the following. A different word each time. So since my first name is Beth, I get to use B’s –

1. Famous Artist/Musician: Beck. Bjork. Blondie. Bush. Pick one.

2. Four letter word: bird

3. Street name:  Broadway.

4. Color: Beige. My first choice was Burnt Umber, but sadly that’s two words.

5. Gifts/presents:  Brandy

6. Vehicles: Beetle

7. College or University: Berea. In Kentucky. One of my cousins went there, as did her parents. Very pretty.

8. TV Show: Ballykissangel, because it’s one word… but what I want to say is Black Books, our current TV Show Love. It’s British (of course), and is hysterically funny, and I thought it was something new because I’d never heard of it.. but turns out it’s been on since 2000. And the last season was four years ago. I was shocked. Netflix recommended it to me. It’s about Bernard Black, the chainsmoking, bitter, anti-social, probably alcoholic Irish owner of a chaotic used bookstore in London. And includes his best friend/drinking buddy Fran and his assistant Manny. In looking for a photo, I’ve discovered that the first season was co-written and directed by a Father Ted writer/director. No wonder it’s so funny – it IS very Father-Ted-like. Very very surreal.

Well, despite all the "b’s" in that last, ummmm, bit, I think these are supposed to be (B!!) one word answers. That’s certainly working well.

9. Country: Britain. Of course. A few people may find that amusing.

10. Things in a Souvenir Shop: bric-a-brac.

11. Boy Name: Bob

12. Girl Name: It could be Bob too, if you watch Blackadder. OooOOooo, another B!

13. Movie Title: Brazil

14. Alcoholic drink: Baileys. Well, it’s not a specific drink, but it’s one word. Oh, a B-52 – that’s an actual drink. And a band!

15. Occupation: Baker. B!

16. Flowers: Begonia.

7. Celebrities: The only double B I can come up with is Barbara Bush. Well, besides ME, of course. OH – how about Beyonce? Or however she spells that awkward name of hers.

18. Magazines: Bon Appetit. I know, I know, it’s two words. I’m too tired to come up with anything else.

19. U.S. Cities: Baltimore

20. Food: Bread. Bananas. Beer. Yes, it’s a food.

21. Something Found in a kitchen: Beverages. Burns. Biscotti.

22. Reason for Being Late: Bed. As in couldn’t get out of.

23. Something You Throw Away: ….   what is this thing you call, "throw away?? Burnt…..out light bulbs.

24. Cartoon Character: Betty Boop. Beevis & Butthead.

25. Something You Shout: Burma!! Oh, wait – that’s something Graham Chapman shouted.

"I panicked!"

Rats, they’ve disabled the embedding thingy. Well, here’s the link – http://www.youtube.com/watch – it’s a kind of long, but well worth it. A Monty Python Classic. And you get to see John Cleese and Graham Chapman trying not to laugh. What a nifty thing the internets are – I wanted to see the Penguin Sketch, and there it is!

I would find this a tough one to complete. I probably would love that series that you are writing about.

I suppose that you do know about the origins of the title of the movie Brazil … I have the feeling that I’ve mentioned it before.

Oh my gosh, I have GOT to watch that show because even though there were only about three and a half episodes of Father Ted, if it’s anything like that, I will love it.

Beer is a food…lol

I LOVE this. I used to play this game with the little boy of a friend a long time ago. We’d go through the whole evening saying things with one letter.

beardedly beautiful! hehehehe

Ohhhh B is the Best! 🙂 Black Books sounds marvelous.

June 24, 2008

Oh I just found a page of marvelous quotes from the show like this: Bernard: You know what you are? You’re a beard with an idiot hanging off it.

Belated best B blather blast! Somehow I am thinking Bunkhouse should be in here somewhere.

Dylan Moran is an absolute LEGEND!

Oh, excellent! I should do this. But I know I won’t remember. Ha! *smiles*

I hadn’t actually seen that Monty Python sketch – I thought I had seen them all! And Black Books is an old favourite – the 3 people in it are favourites as well – we saw Dylan Moran in Aberdeen in his own show last year, I love Bill Bailey in his own right and one of my all time favourite shows was Green Wing which Tamsin Greig was brilliant in. I wish they’d do another series of it.
