all my situations

The house fixers were scheduled to come Monday. They called at 7:30 Monday saying they were delayed by another job and would probably be here Wednesday. Baker B stayed home Wednesday morning and when they hadn’t appeared by 9 he called them — still delayed, it will probably be NEXT Monday. Yesterday they called and said it will be Monday for sure. Hahahahahaha. This really wouldn’t be that big a deal, other than I’d like for this to be over with, except that Stella is still in Asheville and I miss her and it’s TERRIBLE!!! And now I don’t know WHEN we’ll get her back. I want her back NOW!!! It sounds like she’s doing fine, at least. When I called Kim tonight (yes, I call nightly and I also leave her messages during the days if Kim is working) she was sitting in the window. Not hiding under the chest of drawers. Or in the closet, where she’s been hiding too. She’s also been rubbing on Kim’s legs occasionally and looking at her upside-down when she’s under the bed. Which is always a sign of affection and playfulness with her – the upside-down thing is.

I am at least getting to go visit her tomorrow. Our Civic, Situation #2, is still at the Honda place. It will be Thursday or Friday of NEXT week before they get the part. Which apparently is being shipped via covered wagon. I called my father last night to tell him that yet again I won’t be coming down for the weekend due to being carless. I haven’t been down there in… over a month. A long time for the Spoiled Parents.  I said I’d actually thought about renting a car but it would be kind of pricey just for the weekend, and he says, "RENT A CAR. I’LL PAY FOR IT!!! COME DOWN HERE!!!!" The house must REALLY need cleaning. And I know the bills need paying. Why can’t he get my brother or my sister-in-law who live right beside him to write the checks??? Why, they’re too busy!!! My brother has said repeatedly that he’ll be happy to write the checks for them if I can’t make it down, but no. He’s too busy. Oh, WELL. So I said fine, I’ll rent a car! No problem!

And surprisingly it wasn’t a problem- Enterprise has some three-day weekend special so it’s just $19 a day, and they had cars available. I’ve become a car-rental-pro and got them to pick me up and everything. They bumped me up again, from the economy car that the special involves to what I guess is a compact, but seems enormous. It’s a Chevy …. Caliber? I think. It’s very very very ugly. It’s brand new and all fancy-smancy, but looks like one of those transformers that morphs into a robot and then stomps all over everyone in the city. It’s kind of smushed-looking, and it’s a little hard to see out of – the windows are way too narrow, thanks to the smushed-looking design. Ugggggggly!!!! But, whatever. It’s a vehicle, and now I can go to Asheville tomorrow. And see poor little Stella!!!

I’m lying here practically falling asleep over the keyboard, so looks like this is going to be a short entry. Minus all those interesting situations I was planning to write about. My dialup is also being weird – what a shock!! So I’ll have to catch up reading later. And writing. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….

Ah, the housefixers! (Found you on random) We’ve been working on our home for ages and are still waiting for the roofer to do repairs from 2 years ago. The “tile Guy” is supposed to start on Monday. this Monday I hope! LOL 🙂

sheesh, I can relate to workers not being reliable! … we rent cars from Enterprise often due to spouses job and we’ve always had good customer service from them… we’re turning the Hyundai Santa Fe today… loved driving the smaller SUV, only thing is the get up and go was slower than I’m used to, but a good vehicle otherwise!….. have a great weekend!…..I’m like you, when I travel I call home and talk to my kitty on the answering machine too!!! ……:)

Yikes, what a lot of crazy-making stuff you’ve got going on. Hope you and Stella are reunited soon!

Patience is a virtue, right? Right.

Oh man, good luck with the house fixers. I do not like Dave Barry at all, but he wrote one line that’s pure genius: “It’s noon, do you know where your contractor is?” I cannot stand to be away from my hounds so I know you must be going CRAZY being away from Stella this long! RYN: I don’t know if my dad knows what in the hell he’s doing because he’s nuts. But he says there something or other”about 20 miles outside of Asheville” that he and his wife really like. Okay, just buy something already so I can visit Beth.

I misread your car situation at first, and thought you told Uncle W that you couldn’t visit because you were “careless”. Well, you couldn’t be too careless if you are needed to keep their household running. Watch out for new rental cars. The underlying agenda is to convince renters that they need to BUY. GS rented the cheapest possible car in Colorado and was upgraded free to a brand newChrysler station wagon. He hates Chryslers and loves trucks. But ever since driving the new station wagon, mentions that perhaps he needs a new station wagon whenever we talk about how to proceed on our 2 car 4 driver puzzle. BEWARE – car rental agencies suck out the brains of sensible customers. Hope the house is getting fixed today.

I too hope progress was made on the house today! I missed my two cats and I was only gone two nights. Sammy waited until this morning to give me the back. Also that the bill paying cleaning thing wasn’t too odious this trip and Stella and you had quality time.

That’s funny about your parents. You probably have the best car for someone that is going to clean and write bills. LOL! As for renos, it is a nightmare to get them done here. I cannot believe that they didn’t call ahead to allow B. to go to work. Ugh!
