can she write an entry WITHOUT a job whine??
Probably not, but we’ll see. I actually just wrote a big long Whiney Job Whine entry, and then put it on private because even I am sick to death about hearing me complain about my job. Surely I have something ELSE to write about. I mean, I haven’t made an entry in a week. Surely something interesting has happened!
Ummmm…
Uhhhh….. SURELY. Something? Anything????
What have I done all week??? Well, I went down to visit the parents last weekend. They’re fine. Their house is a great big mess. I cleaned and cleaned and it’s still a great big mess. It’s almost as big and nasty a mess as MY house is. That’s something I didn’t think I’d ever hear myself say in a million billion years. My mother was always an exemplary housekeeper. She was kind of a packrat but a neat packrat. Unlike me. Baker B and I are messy disorganized nasty packrats. Now nobody cleans their house but me, apparently. Daddy used to run the vacuum and mop on occasion, but I think these days he just waits for me to come do it. Because it’s just exhausting! The vacuum weighs all of five pounds and the mop is a Swifter. This does annoy me, not because I mind doing it, but because he REALLY needs the exercise and it is REALLY not beyond him. But, oh well! Guess it’s my job from now on.
We also went to visit Baker B’s mother. His brother, sister-in-law, and Gail’s boyfriend were all there. Gail’s boyfriend comes up from Atlanta every time Baker B’s brother visits, which is really nice. We were afraid that when Gail died, we’d never see him again – that it would just be too sad and depressing for him to visit. Quite the contrary – I think we see him more now than we did when she was alive. He’s the same age as Baker B’s brother. Who was there for his fiftieth high school reunion. Yes, Baker B’s brother is 67. I find that kind of shocking. His sister would be 66. Obviously Baker B was a surprise baby.
I just realized that I took a few pictures while we were there, and loaded them up. Yeah, there are a couple. I have SEVENTY. I can not figure out how I take so many pictures. Of course, I’ll delete a lot of them. Maybe. If I can get them on Flickr in time, I’ll post some. Apparently THAT’S what I’ve been doing all week.
I haven’t even watched anything interesting on TV. We’re already done with the excellent Clatterford, since there’s only one season out so far and it’s one of those crazy short six episode British seasons. Well, seven, since there was a Christmas bonus episode. Highly recommended – it’s very very funny and just serious enough at the same time. A teeny bit like Ballykissangel, one of my favorite favorites. It’s got the whole small rural town – odd characters thing going on.
Well, except for the Lost finale, of course. That was fantastic, with a very unexpected and totally bizarre twist at the end which I think may have just officially catapulted it into Best.Show.EVER. I don’t want to reveal any secrets to anyone who hasn’t seen it, especially since if you haven’t seen Lost you need to GO RENT IT RIGHT NOW. The sad thing is that this is the last episode for eight months. I am not sure how I will survive. It was hard enough going from watching it non-stop on DVD to only getting to see it once a week when the new season started. They’ve done a really strange thing and signed on for three more years, with seasons running from February to May. I’m not sure this is such a great idea, but who knows? I’m just glad it didn’t get cancelled.
Well, that was nearly as boring as a work rant! Oh, well.
Looking into the shed. I’m obsessed with the shed.
Looking into the shed from the other direction by holding my camera way up over my head and pointing it at the back window. The one you can see in the first photo, actually. That really needs a wash.
A broken gazing ball.
Another broken gazing ball. I’m not sure what’s going on with all the gazing balls.
Broken Gazing Ball From Another Angle! Apparently I’m obsessed with the broken gazing balls too.
The very pretty reflective (and not broken) goldfish pond.
Baker B’s brother and Bill working in the basement. I worked too! I didn’t just wander around taking pictures! Well, okay, I did more work in Asheville than Morganton this time.
Inside the shed. That I’m obsessed with. I can’t believe I’m taking pictures of spider webs – ewwwww!!!! but I liked the light.
More later. Especially if I can’t think of anything interesting to say.
But but I just put all five DVDs of Planet Earth in my queue when am I ever going to find time to watch Lost? Okay okay. I feel the same way about BSG and waiting for the most recent season to come out on DVD. I am counting the days. Broken gazing balls! High Art! Metaphor. I like the shed too.

BD was very quiet starting supper. Turns out GS made her stop watching Lost over the internet 8 minutes shy of the ending to get her supper. She’s trying to figure out what on earth is going on. I haven’t watched it since last summer when we rented the previous season (Season 2 maybe) so I had to have everything explained and still am fairly clueless (I’d say lost, but the meaning has changed…) She’s also bummed that the next installment isn’t till January 2008.

I like the light patterns in all your photos. Isn’t it funny the quantity of photos we shoot on digital! Seventy photos on film would be a budget breaker. No problem now thankfully.

I LOVED the Lost episode. I have no idea what will happen next. Jericho is over until next season. Most of the shows that I like are ended. I guess I could do something strange like…read… As for cleaning, I guess your parents want a break. Too bad that they can’t move into a smaller place. As for whining, sometime it helps make you feel better.

I don’t know, I hate that lost ends every season with a revelation that you’re expected to stew over all summer.

Your photos have this quality, you have a true artist’s eye for light and composition. Fabulous and thank you for sharing them.

Well, at least you’re not obsessed with bathtub Madonnas, the way I am. I hate when good TV shows are Done For The Season. I am eagerly awaiting my highly geekish sci-fi series to come back for the summer.
