happy entry

Yeah, I know – it’s about time. I got excellent news yesterday, though – my mamogram was fine! I don’t think I was admitting quite how worried I was about it until after it was over. Despite seeing a doctor every three months and getting thorough exams. I think now I just have to go to each one every six months, but seriously, I’d go every DAY if it would keep that from ever happening again. Thank god for modern medicine. Thank god for insurance too – I can’t imagine what happens to the vast numbers of people who don’t have it. I’ll never whine about mine again, that’s for sure. It’s kept me from ending up in Debtor’s Prison.

But now I feel like the luckiest person on earth, and like there’s VERY little worth getting all worked up over. Like, ummmm, the missed payment, which as it turns out was NOT why my rate went up. My rate went up because the offer was for that very very low rate for three months, and THEN it goes to prime. Or close to prime. Which, yes, I WAS aware of, but had managed to completely forget about, as did Baker B. We need to do some refinancing. It’s still not a bad rate, until the rates start going up. Anyhow, I’m certainly glad I didn’t take my crying jag into the bank and weep all over the loan officer.

We are having the weirdest weather for November – in the mid to high 60s, sunny, VERY pleasant – more like early October. The trees are still changing. Perhaps it’s the end of the world. Whatever it is, I sure am enjoying it.

Tonight we watched The Door In The Floor, which was based on a John Irving novel that I actually hated – A Widow For One Year – but I wanted to see it because the movie was about a part of the book that I thought was interesting. It was a long, drawn-out, not-very-likeable book, but I did like the one small bit about one of the character’s childhood, which was very strange and dysfunctional largely because she’d had two brothers who were killed when they were teenagers, before she was born, and she grew up obsessed with their photos, which were hanging all over the house during her childhood. So the movie is about that, although mostly about her parents and a young guy who comes to be her father’s assistant for the summer. Her father is a famous writer of childrens’ books. Sadly, I didn’t like anybody in the entire movie but the little girl, and she was kind of a sideline. It was mostly about the parents and the young man. It just didn’t really work like I think it could have. John Irving is always so hit or miss.

Whatever happened to my movie review idea? Who knows! I do know it’s nearly two in the morning, so I’ll sign off with a couple of pictures of my child.

This chair is one of the ones from my grandfather’s house. I have yet to do something about the very strange upholstery on the seat – it’s got this weird red, silver and black thing going. Probably quite fashionable in the thirties.

Hello Stella. Such good news, yippee! And you must have felt better about the displaced payment too. I saw the previews for that movie but wasn’t too impressed. I really have trouble with John Irving. I developed this dislike for him way back when that I can’t quite shake.

I’m glad for you that your mamogram turned out well!! And having insurance is a really nice thing..I don’t currently have any. Good thing you didn’t end up going to the bank..that could have been embarassing huh?? I loved the pic of your kitty!! So adorable! and I actually liked that chair upholstry just the way it is. Some classics like that you don’t want to change.

Ryn: I thought that was funny about the Foreigner group picture. I wouldn’t have even known who they were at all myself either, because I just listen to some of their song, and have never paid attention to what they look like..

Great kitty shots – what a cutie. RYN: Yes it is very warm for November and it is also just fine with me. We will have too much snow soon enough.

that is a lovely child you have there. I bought a t-shirt for my grandson, Stewie, it says, “I am the grandchild.” (Stewie is a dog, by the way) 🙂

yes indeed, that is excellent news.

YAYYY for a clean mammogram!! Great news! I have that John Irving book on my shelf, but couldn’t get into it the first time I tried to read it. Maybe I won’t bother… Pretty Stella. You should post more pics of her. 🙂

Don’t cats look so comfy when they’re having a nap? And brilliant news about the mammogram – I bet that’s such a weight off your shoulders.
