leaving on a jet plane….or, ummm, in a state van

…and THEN a jet plane. Yikes. I’m nervous. I’m also wondering how the hell I’m going to manage to be at my office at 5:15 in the morning. To catch a plane that leaves at 9:45. It’s really a very good thing I’m traveling with my coworkers to the airport, because when I do the math I calculate that we’re leaving four hours before we actually need to BE there. So if I were going on my own, I’d be leaving here at sevenish and getting to the airport at nine. Which means I’d end up careening in as the plane was taking off and I’d miss the flight. This is an example of why it’s not a good idea for me to be in charge of the timetables.

Did I mention that I’m also going to Chapel Hill NEXT Monday for a licensure meeting? The Ass’t Dean asked if K and I could go. K will be out on vacation but I was ridiculously eager. Like, waving my hand and going “Pick me!!! Pick me!!!!” Because weirdly I think it’s kind of fun to go to licensure meetings, don’t ask WHY, and since it starts at 9 I’m leaving Sunday afternoon and staying overnight. It’s a four or so hour drive. So I get back Thursday, work Friday, and leave again Sunday. And get MY OWN ROOM this time, dammit. Actually, Baker B may go with me which will also be fun.

My Vegas Roomie came by the other day to see if I am a big breakfast eater. I told her that I’m a big sleep-until-the-last-possible-second and then ingest-nothing-but-black-coffee till noon-er. I’m sure this will be a match made in heaven. I realized last night that I GOT an advance for the room, and actually it might not be that much more money to just get my own – we are allotted something like $65 a night and we are apparently getting a promotional rate on them. Of course that would mean my roomie would have to pay more too which wouldn’t really be fair, but she may well not be looking forward to sharing any more than I am, clingy though she is. And she DOES think I snore terribly, too. Anyhow, I’m going to investigate that option tomorrow.

The Dean’s Ass’t, who is organizing this whole extravaganza, is quite the weird power monger, so it’s probably her idea to make everyone share and act like there’s no option anyhow. She tried to make the woman who dropped out because she got another job pay for her airline ticket, acting like the dean said she had to. Turned out he didn’t, and when S protested and contacted travel to find out if they really could make her pay, she got out of it.

Well. I took a couple of Tylenol PMs so I could GO TO SLEEP BEFORE MIDNIGHT, and I think they’re kicking in. So I’ll leave with a few fun Lomos!

These first two are that cool Charleston restaurant with the UFO-like color changing lights –

A doorway:

And Blowing Rock flowers that I took with the Pentax while making sure my camera is okay, now that I’ve patched the teeny hole with electrical tape. Sadly I got the roll developed at Walgreens instead of my usual place, and the color was TERRIBLE – then I discovered they used Fugi paper. That I’m sure I’m not spelling right. The not-Kodak one. It ALWAYS gives me screwed up color. These are the only two that were okay.

And I’m off. Wish me luck!

Have fun in Vegas!!!! It will be fun, even with a clingy roomie.

I don’t know, but fivesh seems a little early to be there at almost tenish. But I guess with security checks and whatnot it could be a doable time table. Good luck, hope it all turns out well.

i knowyou will have a wonderful time!
